Harley-Davidson is going to discontinue Buell M/C line

Bit sad, not a huge fan of Buell, but liked the variety. also, part of it is putting MV back up for sale..... Good read here if you wanna get into some details CLICKY

Major shake up on the world stage for Yamaha

Didn't realize there was that rookie rule, that's interesting. I think after 2010 a lot will be happening with all those contracts expiring... Looking forward to Team Texas. haha. I like Edwards a lot, Spies is missing some personality, but his riding speaks for itself. And I guess of all the...

Honda out of DMG/AMA Superbike 2010

There aren't any factory honda's in WSBK as far as I can see. Also no factory ones in JSB from what a friend of mine told me (he follows it a bit more closely than me). Same in suzuka 8-hours.

    Charity Rides

Never done a charity ride. Not sure they even exist out here. How do they work? Does everyone pay something to participate which goes to charity? Curious how the ride raises cash....

Stock side cases direct from Yamaha

Phorest: I think you should go along with the top box for a while. Touring season is coming to a close and really you'd only want/need these for two up or longer trips. Maybe pick up some soft luggage (security less of a problem here than most of the world) for a little while if you really need...

    Ramblings on a milestone

appreciate the message madmike..... i'll keep 'em coming as much as I can! Really, I spend a lot of time on the bikes, but I have a few now so split time. Recently got into the track gig, bought a CBR250RR (1990 or so, MC22 anyway).....playing around with that mostly just now. Looking to do an...

    Ramblings on a milestone

most of the world operates in km.... nothing against miles, but km is much easier to deal with. anyway, mine was in miles from the UK, kept it in miles here for a while. I didn't know you could change it to km until one day I was trying to set the clock and held some buttons down and...

    Ramblings on a milestone

So this should probably be my 500th post. I'm not nearly the post whore I aspire to be, usually don't have much useful to say. I don't know about the mechanics, the history, farkles, or technology on my FJR (or any bike, for that matter). I suppose I got into this site back when it got going...

    No Country For New Bikes

The Deauville is a great first bike. It was my first bike a few years ago. This was in the UK, the 650 version. The updated one looks much nicer. Pretty light, easy to pick up (oops), etc. Commuting it was great. Built in panniers, standard ones are narrow, great for filtering. More manly than...

GPS with headphone jack (not bluetooth)

The zumo has audio out..... (not just BT). It's part of the cradle.

    Hard to downshift

In my limited experience, I would agree with this. I don't usually pay much attention to oil, and the long threads that debate it. Generally seems to all be 'good enough'. But I changed oil at a new place, used their 'recommended' one that I didn't recognize, but was 'reassuringly...

    MotoGP on TV today

yeah, i just heard you guys get commercials during the race. Pretty sad.... was pretty bummed the rossi/lorenzo battle didn't last longer, the rest of the race was so-so. Good to see some other guys on the podium, I suppose. Would have liked to see Edwards up there a bit further.

2 Days riding in the UK (yes, the old country)

Nice pics & report! Salisbury Cathedral is very nice.... good you found that. Biking in the UK is pretty civilized.... reasonable filtering, free parking everywhere, not too shabby.... :)

    waterproof summer gloves

I wear golf gloves in the summer too..... but only when playing golf. :) It is not an oxymoron.... a waterproof summer glove will obviously not have vents or mesh, but will much thinner than a traditional waterproof glove. Five years ago when I first started riding I found a gore-tex glove...
