    First Ride on Virgin Knee

Had my left knee replaced 23 May, 2017 at the VA Hospital here in Seattle. Was walking with a cane by the end of June, over 130 degrees flexion and about -3 degrees from straight. Started short local rides the middle of July, my surgical team was not happy but I was. Lots of PT, twice a week...

    Fire Destroys Boggan’s Oasis

That road looks like a lot of fun. Having a great place to eat just adds to the pleasure. The 59er Diner up on Stevens in gone also, another fun place to stop.

    Trickle charge through power outlet

Battery Tender Jr. wired directly to the battery with a fuse. That connection leads out between the fairing and the frame on the right side and gets tucked in when riding. Convenient and the little exposed connection is easily connected to the Battery Tender connector. Works like a charm.

Ride to WSBK @ Laguna Saca June 22-24 2018

Thinking of going but probably driving since my friend doesn't ride. Will probably spend several days after the races showing her Carmel where I grew up in the 50's and early 60's. Laguna Seca was a shorter track then without the added section after turn one that leads up the hill. A lot...

    Winter Storage

Oil Change, check fluids, add Stabil to fuel, connect to Deltran Battery Tender Jr. and check tire pressures once a month and make sure it is still in my detached garage. Have never had a problem in the spring after following this routine. I am pretty sure we don't encounter the temperatures...

Cold weather low-grip = low side this morning

I stop riding when the temperature gets down to 40 degrees.

    2018 FJR Details Released

Totally agree with Warchild, Ross Kean and Canoe head. Bundling saftey features with other unnecessary items has been a sore point with me for a long time. Automobile manufacturers have abused this practice for years and I think Yamaha picked up the idea from them. Sad to see them do this.

    dropped my new fjr!

Congratulations, you're now a member of one of the larger groups on the forum. Happens to a lot of us, sometimes more than once. The mirrors seem to always get involved and if you are lucky you can bend the actual mounting bracket back close to its original position. There was a thread 5 or 6...

    Inexpensive led driving lights ?

Not LED but I have a set of these mounted below the mirrors on my '09. Used brackets made by Garauld. Lots of light, https://www.amazon.com/Hella-FF50-Auxiliary-Lamps-DRIVING/dp/B000GKEYBK .

    First Trip Post Retirement

Miss Tahoe for me. Watched it go down the back stretch barely touchng the tip of the prop and the sponsons. Last year I watched from the deck of a US Navy minesweeper.

    Sounds like a fair trade.

    Shifting troubles

+1 on the Shift Linkage. I also lube the pivot for the rear brake pedal before the winter rain starts since that pedal seems to bind and then the ABS light keeps flashing. I disassemble the mechanism, clean the pivot area thoroughly and re-grease with a sticky chasis grease with Moly before...

Credit/Identity Protection: Who Do You Use?

Much easie and more secure r to just log onto your bank account and check the transactions on your accounts on a frequent basis. No disclosure of any account or personal details to anyone.

Credit/Identity Protection: Who Do You Use?

Right. That looks like a real secure way to check.

    Swedish curves :)

My mother's Father came from the Orebro area in the late 1800's. Great to see what the countryside looks like.

Seattle, WA Good to Go Pass - free for bikes

I positioned mine in the center of the headlight housing just even with the bottom of the "V shaped" center of the windshield. Works just fine and is barely visible from the front. I was concerned that if I placed it on the headlight lens cover that it would be at an angle to the reader and I...

[Seattle] Mt. Rainier on Saturday, July 22nd

Bring some walking shoes or light hiking boots for the trail from the parking lot at Cape Flattery. I did that in my AlpineStars a few years ago and it was interesting making my way over the trace laced with tree roots. Also interesting were all the signs on trees along the trail advising of...
