October Ride Planning - need some local knowledge, Memphis-Daytona-SFO-Memphis

Leaving Rossville I would stay on TN57 probably to Ramer and then 234 down to US45 to US72. 72 through MS is basically wide flat and smooth. Better for making time but I always preferred 57 when heading that way. Lived in those parts for quite a while but haven't been back for 6 years though.

What did you do to your FJR today?

Meant to include these quotes in the post above. Apparently my quoting skills are comparable to my bleeding skills.

What did you do to your FJR today?

I did know about bleeding the front linked unit first. I guess I just didn't have the patience to bleed it long enough to get all the old fluid out. Just stopped when there was no evidence of air. I'm sure if you do a complete bleed every 2 years and replace all the fluid you probably won't...

What did you do to your FJR today?

Finally got tired of bleeding my back brake and still having mush. Took it to the local shop where they drained flushed an refilled the system. Feels as solid now as the 2016 they have on the showroom floor. For me it was $55 well spent. The tech said the fact that the rear master is directly...

International Distance Converter Missing on Gen III

Thanks for starting this thread Spud. Your distance converter works on the same basic principle as the slide rules we used back in my school days. Made me wax nostalgic.

International Distance Converter Missing on Gen III

That would be a speed converter. Spud is talking about a distance converter.

    Rear Master Cylinder Kit Question

According to the repair manual for my '08, the only repair option for the rear brake master cylinder is replacement. When I look up the parts online I see there is a cylinder kit listed for $37. Part #8 on this drawing: https://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/oem-schematic/12 Has anyone here...

Anyone using something other than original side cases

I used a set of Nelson-Rigg soft bags on a trip one time due to last minute lock issues with my oem bags. I had the N-R bags sitting in the garage anyway, having bought them for another bike. They worked great and save a noticeable amount of weight compared to the oem bags. A used set of decent...

    Helmets

Most important is fit. Heads and helmets come in a wide variety of shapes. Fit is also a major factor in the quietness or noise level of the helmet. It is my experience that a well fitting cheap helmet can be quieter than a more expensive one that doesn't conform to your head quite as well.

    Pristine 2011 Yamaha FJR1300

Just a suggestion, but you might want to edit your original post with the updated link. People click on the expired link and might assume the bike is sold.

    A Wet Wednesday Errand

I know that our unseasonably warm February has done a lot for my attitude. Although I haven't taken the FJR out of winter storage mode yet, I have had several nice rides on the KLR. Always makes you feel better.

Another Damn Deer Strike (Not me though)

Airport officials will investigate how it got past chain link fences surrounding the airport. Ya think it might have jumped?

    Summer Jacket Conversation

I have had several mesh jackets but my current favorite for hot weather is a perforated leather by Joe Rocket. For some reason it's just more comfortable than mesh in hot weather. Especially when stuck in slow traffic. I've had it a few years and I'm not sure what model it is but looks very...
