    NAFO - Trip Plans

From the IBA website... "It is possible to complete both the SaddleSore 1000 and Bun-Burner 1500 on the same ride." Contrary to some opinions the IBA WILL certify your Bun-Burner if you complete it. They will also certify your SaddleSore if you meet the requirements while completing your...

HD makes a "Sport Bike" well almost....

"At Harley-Davidson© we do not sell motorcycles. We sell a lifestyle and an image. The motorcycle is secondary in the transaction." -- Jeffrey Bluenstein, CEO of The Motor Company© That was Jeffrey's answer on an earnings conference call in the early 2000's reacting to an analyst's question on...

HD makes a "Sport Bike" well almost....

Wow! That thing should be a rocket! They have it stripped down to 570lbs! 76lb/ft of torque! I would not want to run across that thing on a 1000cc or less bike from any other manufacturer. You will get stomped! I mean this thing is a game changer. This may put a manufacturer or two on the ropes...

    senna/garmin question

I tried to pair my phone to the 390 and then the 390 to the Sena. Was a no go for me. I could hear the caller, they could not hear me. So I have the phone and the Garmin paired to my Sena seperately. Works just fine that way. I don't get the call info on my screen however. I can live without...

    Nowthen Tech Day 4/23

Plan on two more Tripper. I may have a new riding partner in tow. I am sure the boy will want to get in as much riding time as he can before he takes his test. You can look in awe at the farkled out FJ-09 we built up over the winter. I'll help out wherever I can...

    Need Garage Heat Options Opinions

I have this in a 75K BTU unit hanging from my garage ceiling. Three car garage stays nice and toasty. We have some really cold days here in the northland so a few extra btus are nice on sub-zero days when I want to work in the garage.

    Pivot Maintenance - FJR Stand?

It's winter in Minny so we have lots of time to fool around with things like this. My dad is a retired machinist with a Bridgeport mill in the garage and Clausen lathe in the basement...he is always looking for little projects. This will keep him busy for a little bit. I even like to go down to...

    Pivot Maintenance - FJR Stand?

Just looked at a parts manual...your are correct Donal...I would have to chuck up the collar in the lathe and cut a shallow groove on the inside in-line with the grease holes in the bolt. Then a couple of holes 180 degrees apart to let the grease flow into the bearing side...hmmmm. Parts can be...

    Pivot Maintenance - FJR Stand?

HotRod, I am going to do a deep dive into this...I promise it won't take as long as the CC ECU swap did...I am hoping the bolt is easily available and I will have the old man fire up the lathe and prep a new version. I need to crawl under mine and see if there is enough room past the end of the...

    Sad Ending for an XJR1300

If this were available here a couple years ago, this would most likely be my second bike instead of the FJ-09. I am not enamored with the new styling changes...but I loved this scheme in 2014...

    Pivot Maintenance - FJR Stand?

I am going to be taking my '13 apart later this winter for service. I may try an old trick my father and I did on our Ventures. The Gen 1 & 2 Venture Royale had a similar issue with lubing the pivot on the rear suspension. My father and I took a new factory bolt and then drilled into the center...

    Sad Ending for an XJR1300

Saw a story on the Daily Mail...the French have drained a canal for cleaning and maintenance...this was at the bottom...what a sad sight to behold...I always liked the XJR, we just never got a chance to sample them...

I can attest to the quality of the Valley of the Gods Road. It will be challenging on the FJR. There are several washes that must be crossed, the sand can be deep. There are a couple of steep sections up rocky ledges...that is where I called it quits. You can easily traverse a very long section...
