    Holeshot Header Experience

No dyno plot means fewer sales. Dale's choice. It is nice to hear "OMG I sure could feel it!" but the dyno doesn't lie (if run correctly). Like someone else sort of said above, more peak HP is not useful to me. But fatten up the curve, say +4 Ft-Lb at 4000 RPM, or smooth out the response...

    Headlight Modulator Negative?

I've run one on every bike I've had for over 15 years. They work. Pissing off some drivers is insignificant compared to preventing just ONE from turning left into your path. Unfortunately they are not useable with HID's and I really like all the low-beam output too much to give it up now...

    Back in the Saddle.

Lots of choices. I use an AutoCom Pro7, 9V battery powered so it stays entirely in a tankbag. It has I/O's for bike-to-bike, music, phone, and intercom. Audio Y-Splitters can be used for more inputs (e.g. music & GPS). I have a 8500 radar detector "industrial Velcroed" to a Top Gun "ECM...

    Anyone into sports cars?

Oh yeah. I've got the sporty car bug. Went through an Integra GSR, S2000, and C5 Z06. Auto-x'd them all (SCCA Solo2). I'm older now so I'm driving a new 330i...with Sports package. :) My current object-of-lust is the Ariel Atom. Brammo Motorsports is the US disty (Ecotec engines, yech!)...

    I have pets

Here's Bear (what else d'you call a monster choc lab?) -- Here's Woody & Pirate (the Macaws on the left, B&G and a Milligold, the others belong to my cousin). Hybrid macaws are bad pets but the blue-and-golds are sweet as can be.

How bad of an Idiot am I???

I haven't replaced my two lost clips either (D'oh!). No trouble after 4K miles (service-to-service).

Running on Empty / Flashing Fuel Bar

Just to add to this old thread. Last Sunday I was forced to run 58 miles on my "reserve." Not my choice so I was nervous as hell. My fill up was 6.32 gallons, without trying to maximize the fill beyond the base of the fill-neck.

    I can't stand it anymore!!!

Well, Don, I don't just go around bashing BMW's at every opportunity but as a past owner I have a few bones to pick with them and I am not alone. When someone like you says they are unfairly picked on, it gets a response from me. Feel the need to defend them as a brand? Then explain to me why...

    WTF??

04FJR4ME may be a bit long-winded but he is right. You seem to have no idea of the expense of running a retail business (versus an internet business). Brick-and-mortar operations have higher overhead costs (e.g. renting/leasing a nicer space than a warehouse or home garage, turning on the...

    WTF??

10% is not enough adder for a brick-and-mortar business to compete. I let my dealer(s) get the business if they get within 25% over-internet-price (including shipment) from a 'legitimate' supplier. My local dealer doesn't care where I buy the tires and doesn't even care where I bought the bike...

    '06 FJR or K12GT?

I'll continue to examine BMW's closely. I like some of their engineering & styling. They gained my respect back in the airhead days. But they need a new track record of reliability before I'll pay their premium again. They are discounted (got a couple thousand off my R1200C) but not so much...

    Bike to Bike Radio

I, um, know lots of people who use unlicensed GMRS radios. Not a one has been hassled (yet). The FCC should have higher priorities and they lost the licensing war when GMRS radios started selling in blister-packs in every store in the land.

    Bike to Bike Radio

We use TK3101's on channel 15. Only the upper (5?) channels are GMRS, others are lower FRS power. But we use a privacy code so we don't hear most others on our channel. Even without the privacy code, GMRS is not as "community" oriented as CB. Probably because the range is not as far as a...

    Top Box

I have the Euro bag but I don't use it for daily rides. I find it too big, interferes slightly with either my body or the bars. It seems like the right piece of gear for a multi-day ride though.

    MP3 players for Autocom system

For MP3 storage of 2 GB or less you could also consider one of the Palm PDA models that play MP3's and accept SD card memory (e.g. Palm TX). Not the finest music machine made but has more functions. Solid-state (flash memory) has to be more vibration-resistant than hard drives on a bike but my...

    A little Christmas money

    1. Moko sliders 2. Powerlet Products sells nicely designed wiring kits (unswitched power). You'll have to design your own switched power (e.g. relay off a light's supply line). 3. Yes, plugged into #2 (unswitched source). 4 + 5, can't help you (but have you done a TB sync to reduce vibes yet?)

    Kisan headlight modulator

Move along, nothing to see here (my inability to read led to a bad post)

    Phone/Starcom

The phone link is kind of useful. If my buddies and I get far enough apart that our GMRS radios don't connect I can still pull over and dial 'em up most of the time (depending on cell service).

    Winter riding jacket recommendations?

IMO, aside from electrics, there's nothing like Goretex stuffed with Thinsulate (or equivalent). Motoport's liners are this type of construction and they're just too warm to wear over 60 degrees F.

    GIVI V46 - install questions

I did think it was odd that the twin-rail design lets water in. They could have boxed a small section at the bodywork and inserted through a rubber seal? That light kit <grr>! A lot of work for so few lumens.
