    FJR Resurrection!

Don't know what you folks have been doing during the lockdown.  I've been spending some quality time in my garage: I bought my 2005 new, and rode her to Colorado and Yellowstone, and from Virginia to Jacksonville to San Diego and back.  She was fun, capable and reliable. By 2009 she and I had...

Two Week Bucket Trip Out West - Preventive Maintenance Suggestions Requested!

Many thanks for the travel trips! Elevation and temperature variation will definitely be factors. I am planning to ride around the Durango-Silverton-Ouray area (Million Dollar Highway), then head into Southern Utah (Mexican Hat, Valley of the Gods, Escalante, etc).

Two Week Bucket Trip Out West - Preventive Maintenance Suggestions Requested!

I am in the early planning stage for a 2 week motorcycle trip from Virginia to Southern Utah and Colorado, aiming for late May/early June, 2019. I am using Toby Ballentine's "Motorcycle Journeys Through the Rocky Mountains" to plan routes and stops. I am going to prep my 2005 FJR for the trip...

Musings of an aging FJR rider

Before you buy another FJR, think outside the box and consider two possible alternatives: Alternative I - Polaris Slingshot. Not quite a bike, not quite a car. Cost less than a Wing, and looks like a lot more fun. Alternative II - 2015 Corvette LT2 with Z51 package and magnetic suspension...

    Can the FJR Handle It?

Guys, thanks for all the replies! I'm now convinced the bike is capable (especially with knobby tires). The rider, however... I appreciate the dirt riding tips. I might take the Cornerspin dirt course in the spring before we go. Jim

    Can the FJR Handle It?

4-5 of us are planning a bike trip to Northern Arizona/Southern Utah for next year. Trip duration will be 7-12 days, depending on overall cost/day etc. We plan to ride mostly paved roads, but there will be sections which are dirt (Moki dugway, Valley of the Gods, Moab). Has anyone ridden this...

    Sexiest Sportbike

"You can always find $$$ for a good motorcycle. It's the redheads and blondes that are cost prohibitive... " Umm, Redfish, we need to get our priorities in order...And while no one is suggesting its cheaper to own rather than rent, carpe diem mandates you at least rent a hot rollercoaster ride...

    Sexiest Sportbike

"just the one that looks like a moving violation of all that is holy!!! " We have a blonde winner!!! Now, if were talking bikes, the 848EVO Course is still the current champ:

    Sexiest Sportbike

OK, I'm seriously thinking of selling both my FJR AND my ZX6R to purchase a Ducati 848 Evo Corse. The damn thing is just gorgeous. Of course, being Italian, it promises much fantasy but delivers much less reality: The FJR would kick its ass in normal, everyday riding (commuting, occasional...

    Club Racing

Hey Dave, how did the racing go? You should post up some pictures!! I rode at VIR last weekend - just trackdays, not racing!!! Damned hot in the leathers except when you were actually riding.

Steel Braided Lines - Worth the Cost/Headache?

Thanks guys! Seems as though this farkle really isn't worth the cost - I'll consider it if and when I have to replace the OEM hoses.

Steel Braided Lines - Worth the Cost/Headache?

I will be replacing the brake/clutch fluid on my 2005 FJR w/ABS shortly, and am wondering whether I should install steel braided lines. The bike has the original rubber hoses, and 40,000 miles on the odometer. The brake and clutch lines appear OK (No leaking, cracking, bubbles, etc.) I'd like...

Hey Dave, I've no plans to ride to Ohio right now, but when I do, I'll be sure to look you up!!! Jim

    Club Racing

Hey Dave, I feel the same way. I've been off both the FJR and my ZX6R since October!!! Spring can't come soon enough!! Good for you for getting on the track. I hope to do 3-4 track days this year at VIR, and focus on improving technique and hopefully lap times. I need to get a lot better...

Here's a quick video (pun definitely intended) which seems more appropriate here than in the video and images section. Enjoy!

    Some things are just wrong....

A tough looking biker was riding his Harley when he sees a girl about to jump off a bridge so he stops. "What are you doing?" he asks. "I'm going to commit a suicide," she says. While he did not want to appear insensitive, he didn't want to miss an opportunity he asked "Well, before you jump...

    Deflowered at Summit Point!

I bought an '09 ZX6R back in March, and hoped to track her at VIR in May. (See my earlier post "Its gonna be a great Spring"). Unfortunately, work and life intervened, and I hadn't bought a trailer by May. Summer in Virginia was pretty warm this year, and the thought of putting on race...

Dealer has new 06AE - Price?

Hey Palerider, I love it when someone takes twice as many words explaining what he really meant in a previous post. Your previous posts and mine are still up. Unless you edit yours, interested readers. if there are any, can decide for themselves what was actually said by you and me, and who...

Dealer has new 06AE - Price?

My previous post did not go to the market price of a 4 year old bike in a dealer showroom. Instead, I was merely rebutting your argument that the bike was ready to be scrapped due to old age. And many of the plastic parts will be on the way to being brittle. And the tires have hardened. In...
