    new hybrid sleek lowprofile trunk.

Actually it is a "Sun Mountain Hard Paq" but is just too perfect to not be a FJR accessory. The only problem is the handle from the luggage rack protrudes upward and takes some room in it. It is actually a backpack with a hard, painted shell that matches my '03. Four zipties make for a...

    side stand fix?

I only use 1st if facing down (very slight) hill but I have developed the habit of standing on the stand's "deployment peg". It gives me an extra 2 inches of height to clear the seat and bags with my foot and makes sure it is all the way down. It also adds 214 pounds of stability as I get on or...

    ABS light stays lit

OK, my question is: How do you know the ABS is working? The only way to know the antilock parts ARE in fact working is to ride it in such a way that it actually has function to avoid a tire locking up. I assume you do not normally ride in such a way that you are (or would be) locking up a tire...

Places Where Hi Viz Won't Help

The trucks stay in the left lane in towns to avaoid merging traffic. Many more accidents would happen with cagers trying to merge in front, behind and under the big rigs. Out of town they stick to the right lanes. I have an issue with the cagers here on the central coast. They will sit in the...

Lower bars, sport windscreens . . . anybody?

I made a real shorty out of hardware store plexiglass. It was only about 10" tall. all it takes is belt sander and a skilsaw.

What Highway Pegs Do You Have?

The biggest threat is grinding the rigid mounting block in the ground in a hard turn. this can make you crash straight up or transfer so much stress to your engine that it causes oil leaks. Other than that, properly installed highway pegs do not cause oil leaks. your feet and their weight will...

    FJR vs. Bear

If Dcarver can fix his, you can fix your's. Start collecting parts now. It will cost you less than you think, unless you want all new parts from Yamaha. I have quite a few spares, but they are all Gen1s.

    Bar end weight mounting systems

OK,I own an '03 built in Aug '02, SN 749 my friend just bought one built the same month, 88 units in front. My bar end weights are held in by the standard squeeze the rubber and expand sideways type system but my friends has his rubber bonded into it appearently permanently. Og, my caveman...

    ECU error if injector disconnected?

I have been thinking about the ECU error issue. First find out how much resistance is in the injector coil, then rig up a dummy load for the ECU to feed to. You still may get an error, some ECU's are pretty sophisticated at looking at things like induction induced vontage oscillations (I think...

    Unauthorized TBS on Gen III?

I have put the lead shot in the bars of y old '93 K100RS it worked well. (No counter balance shafts in those and I had over 200K so I was experimenting with it.) Our bars have alot of room in them if you have the stock bar end weights. I might try just to satisfy my curiosity now.

"Deep Thought's" answer will be... 42. What is the question? Congratulations

    ECU error if injector disconnected?

Then repeat the procedure on 2&3 with 1&4 disconnected? That MIGHT work but it will result in a likely difference between 1&4 vs 2&3. With shortcuts like these (no insult intended) I would leave a sync to the pro's, or, just leave well enough alone.

    2012 FJR Heat Issues

OK, I am awash in guilty feelings for the harsh comments. I rode a bike in Barstow for years mostly in an Army uniform. It was hot but not unbearable. Tall boots and pants 'bloused' (tucked into) them. Now I ride every day on the central coast. It has been as hot as 110. Again tall boots and...

    2012 FJR Heat Issues

Step away from the bike... Get back in your cage. The heat problem will then be controllable by moving a lever.

    WynPro PAIR Plates

Pulse Air Induction System It uses a reed valve to take advantage of the low pressre pulse in the exhaust to suck in some fresh air, providing oxygen in the airstream for the cats to use in combusting unburnt hydrocarbons. The vacuum vavle and other controls regulate when it is on and off. I...

    Unauthorized TBS on Gen III?

I would suspect the drive-by-wire would have lead to a complete re-do of the linkage. Any inline 4, actually any piston engine, will vibrate. The rigid mounting just makes the vibrations more evident. Have you tried filling the hollow of the handlebar with some lead shot? this deadensthe bars...

Gen I Electrical Gremlins - Possible Windscreen Motor Issue?

Another thing to look into, make sure the windshield mechanism in not physically moving a wire or cable as it travels. It could be pushing on something and causing the problem that way.
