So you wished you bought a BMW

Yamaha makes a great dual sport. Unfortunately like most great things you can't have one. https://www.yamaha-motor-europe.com/product...p?view=overview Of course I guess they said that about the FJR also.

Stranded with a bent rim during X-Country trip

There is a place in denver that straightens rims. My son messed his up pretty good and they made it lool like new. Woody's wheels. Or call Vickery motorsports. They are the only dealer that stocks any parts in the area. (303)375-4387 Woody's Wheel Works (303) 936-0232 2225 S Platte River Dr...

    Vacation 2006

John The state park campgrounds along the coast in Oregon have always been great. I have not stayed at them for a number of years but many are adjacent to the ocean and have nice restrooms and showers. Ron

    FJR in the US

I remember this back in 2004. All the waiting makes it hard to part with this bike. Fortunately it is worth the wait.

    Vacation 2006

Don't really have any vacation plans but I am taking a ride in June from home, Nederland Co., to Livinston Mt. by way of Cody and Redlodge. Then back over Beartooth pass. I may do a slab burner to Lake of the Ozarks for a family reunion. Then Sturgis in August. Don't have time for a vacation...

Question for our trip to Denver July 06

I live in the mountains about 45 minutes from Denver. How big is your RV? If it is not huge I may be able to help you out. If it is a bus disguised as a RV I won't be able to do you any good at my place. There is also a storage yard along highway 36 between Denver and Boulder. There is a KOA in...

    1000 V Strom

Thanks for all the feedback. I told my Yamaha dealer to let me know if he gets one in on trade. I do not like any of the local Suzuki dealers although I can't say I have dealt with all of them. I am probably going to Panama in 2007 so really am looking for something that can deal with bad roads...

    1000 V Strom

I am thinking about a little adventure tour to Panama and am leaning heavily towards the V Strom 1000. I road a 650 and was impressed with the comfort. The VStrom site has a lot good things to say but they own them.

Dunlop D208 ZR on the FJR

I have run two sets of the D208s on my FZR1000. It is a little lighter than the FJR but not much. Not sure exactly how many mile I got out of them but I had no complaints about the tires. I ran the D220s on the FJR and could not get them off fast enough. Terrible wet traction. I started with...

    Low Speed Front End Oscillation

OK I had been away from the board for a while and just checked this post. I have replaced rotor, break pads, torqued the stearing head, replaced the tires. I still have a shudder at low speed breaking and a wobble around 45. The wheel bearings feel fine and are definately not sloppy. I keep...

    Michelin Pilot Road

Somebody was using one of these. https://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Disp...temnumber=34542 I keep thinking about buying one.

    Low Speed Front End Oscillation

While all this advice is good I can tell you from experience that new tires, steering head bearings, fork rebuild only mask the problem. I have had the worst problem with the Avons. It was not the tire's fault. The bike ate them. I still have not cured my FJR and it has turned into the low speed...
