    Tan 'Stitch Colorfastness

Yep, my reflector panel is looking a tad bit used, too. I haven't sent my suit back for work, but might just do it to add a bit of hook&loop for the first aid info pouch, to add a proper "Road Grimed Astronaut" patch (iron-on tape and the suit don't get along well), and sort out the panel...

    Tan 'Stitch Colorfastness

I can't speak to tan, per se, but I'm the second owner of this suit. It's seen me through ugly weather, a low speed drop, and, five years after the attached picture was taken, left me with little to complain about. Nufenpass, Switzerland - 7/5/17

If you couldn't have an FJR what would be the next best thing?

Interesting... I wanted to take an FJR into the central Alps, but couldn't make it happen. I did a tour with Edelweiss on an RT. It was my first sample of Alpine roads on two wheels and something of a learning experience(!!). I did a similar trip, on my own, the next summer, on a K1600GT and...

    BRP in 1 day

One other thought about BRP, although, of course, it applies elsewhere. Riding in the back of beyond means there's a bigger chance of encountering wildlife. So far, nothing big's jumped out at us during the days we've been on the BRP, but that doesn't ol' Brer Bear might not wander out to say...

    BRP in 1 day

The comments about time, distance, traffic are pretty much spot on. But... Keep in mind the scenery really is awesome. Jumping on at one end, churning out the miles, jumping off at the other end? Kind of a waste IMHO. Keep an eye out for bicycles - they're zippy fast downhill, and kinda slow...

    Riding pants

Aerostich! Spendy but oh so worth it! Easy in, easy out, zippers for vents, pockets that work, and great support. (Aerostich Combat boots, BTW) (Rental K1600, Stelvio pass, Italy)

    Moto vlogging on your FJR?

I put this up as a sample of some simple effects, using Resolve, that, I think, set up overall video's setting. I used a freeze frame for the Maricopa County, Tonto National Forest, and "Curves Mountain Grades" signs. Pick the frame that gets the job done, and mark out how many frames /...

    Moto vlogging on your FJR?

Here's sample that's now five(!) years old, but I think it still gets the job of "a funny thing happened while I was riding" done. The camera (SJCam SJ7) has bandwidth issues, but was simple to use. Shooting 1080P @ 60 fps still strikes me as crisp enough for YT work. This clip was taken out...

    Moto vlogging on your FJR?

Resolve isn't for the faint of heart. Unless the plan is to compete at or close to the corporate level, the free version is more than enough to produce impressive work. The later Resolve revs are IMNSHO almost overloaded with capabilities. I use V15 and haven't felt a great need to update from...

Eclipse tank bag slides too much

The idea of using magnets to stop the sliding... pretty attractive idea! ;P

Eclipse tank bag slides too much

I have an Eclipse bag which meets my needs but... The front strap harness is wrapped around the front of the frame around the steering head. The single strap is attached to the frame so the strap comes out at the front of the saddle. All very much as Eclipse suggests. Unless I put really...

Bike won't start, clicks very fast

As it appears the OP's gone dark, either the bike's running, or in a repair queue somewhere. Given how volatile ether is, it's either a useful tool for the tool box or a good way to head to the story ending "...and that's when I singed my eyebrows off". Further classification depends on the...

Bike won't start, clicks very fast

OK, agreed, as OP said, the fast clicking was a dead battery. Agreed WOT can help with clearing gas-fouled plugs. But I'm puzzled by nobody suggesting a careful application of ether. It's a lot easier to do that than rip the bike apart to get to the plugs, Which may or may not be fouled to...

    LED headlights.

Halogen to LED conversions aren't always "plug&play". The position of the light source in LED's can vary relative the near point source for any incandescent (Halogen, etc.) lamp. The results can be anywhere from no real change to almost impossible to aim (dead spots, and hot spots too high)...

    Modifications/Customization

Spencer? I want to drop the saddle height on my '17, and am looking for someone who doesn't just carve out foam and re-use the cover - or something almost as bad to it.

Careful what you ask Santa for.

However could I have missed that. I mean, it was screamingly obvious to any proofreader worth their salt. I, however, remain on the the level of getting excited by the repeated use of a single word on more than one line. I'd love to stay and chat chat, but Nurse Ratchet is coming with those...

    New Bike Choice

We go with new cars. My FJR was new. The '03 K1200RS was used, bought from Hermy's (see above). Teething problems, etc. went to a dealer. Easy-peasy. The Concors C10 before the K, and the Honda C900 before that were used. The C10 had no surprises I can recall. The C900 was a semi-restoration...

    New Bike Choice

[BMW model near rant omitted] BMW can really be weird about production. I doubt very much the sales person was telling a fairy tale. Sometimes it's "we had (however many) and sold out". The dealer may have guessed wrong on orders, be limited in how much they can spend on floorplanning spendy...

    Seeking advice on first FJR

The heck of it is that IMHO the best toys are on the IV's. Gen I-III are good, but missing some important updates (yes, and have more fluff, darnit).
