    Hello AllGen 1 2005

All of the discussions I've seen have said the 2006+ is a different unit and implied they cannot be substituted. Neither am I aware of any pattern of failure of 2006-2007 ABS units rear brake functionality as with the 2005. That alone suggests a significant difference. I would also want to...

    Hello AllGen 1 2005

Welcome! I've got a 2005 ABS model. Mine is like most 2005 with ABS - the rear ABS doesn't work. They changed the ABS unit design for the 2006 so that the unit would more easily flush...

Trying to select an FJR Model

I will note that the Gen I (2005 and earlier) are more svelte in the tank/seat interface for the operator. Gen II+ are like straddling a barrel in comparison. I'm switching from a 2005 to a 2016 for rear ABS, cruise, TC, etc. 2016+ also have all LED lighting and the headlights are wonderful...

    Seeking advice on first FJR

One note about Gen I vs Gen II/III/IV. Sitting on a Gen II/III/IV feels like straddling a barrel. On my Gen I, my legs feel like they are in their natural position. It's not a deal breaker, but it does affect a rider's ability to flat foot.

    Twisted Sisters

@sparky80 and I can be the last bikes in the group.

    Speedometer varying

Since it is following your RPM gauge, it is getting something from your tach feed. The ABS would object if one wheel was going faster. If the crossover affects the ABS-perceived speed of both wheels equally, then that can't be happening in too many places. Or the crossover is where it affects...

    Bend R-Gaza Saddlebag Bars?

I started pulling with it on the bike. The whole footpeg/muffler bracket started moving. I'm too afraid of doing something to the subframe to try again to bend it while on the bike. Two bolts, which have the rear footpeg and the muffler, are all that hold it on. In retrospect, I'm impressed...

    Bend R-Gaza Saddlebag Bars?

Oh! I really like the trailer hitch idea. Only need to buy a clamp. But... I'm planning to sell the bike very soon. People in another sandbox pointed out that bending leads to fatigue, which leads to failure. I'd already ordered a replacement set in case I couldn't get the old one back in...

    Bend R-Gaza Saddlebag Bars?

Hello! I had a tipover last weekend and my R-Gaza saddlebag bar bent back where it contacts the saddlebag. Any ideas on how to bend them back? I don't have a table-mounted vise, just hand tools. Thinking hammers aren't the way. Here's a link to the bars on R-Gaza's site so you can see what...

    Side car for FJR

I'm not sure there is enough frame to grab onto to add a sidecar. https://www.texassidecars.com/  You're looking at $7K, if they can make it work. Have you thought about a Tilting Motorworks front trike?  Eyewatering prices, but your wife might like the trike more than a sidecar.  You likely...

Wynpro Bigfoot (Gen 3) or similar wanted

My pre-owned 2016 came with an R&G "kickstand shoe" of some flavor.  They don't have one listed for FJRs.  But they make/made something that fits well enough.  You might ask if they know what it is.  Doesn't fit tight, but it isn't going to fall off anytime soon, either.  Fine clearance for...

    2004 FJR Engine heat

I am another fortunate Gen I owner.  I live in San Antonio, where we average 17 days over 100F.  I don't get slammed by the heat unless it is stop-and-go.  I have heard of others who had their legs baked at all temperatures and speeds.  A prior owner did put the blanket in.  Test ride it and see...

Hello from Milwaukee~~I am in over my head and need help please!!

The Angel GT is the only model of tire that has read true out of the four different sets I've had.  All of the others were the standard "faster on the speedo" than GPS.

Hello from Milwaukee~~I am in over my head and need help please!!

The Pirelli Angel GTs in stock size ran my '05 speedo at true at highway speeds.  They also took less effort to start a turn, compared to the Michelin PR3 and PR4, and Continental Road Attack 3 that I've had.  Next change I'll be trying the Pirelli Angel GT II, hoping they are not far from their...

    GenI trunk fit GenII?

Two sides to the plate.  The bottom, which fits to the bike.  And the top, which fits to the trunk.  The top is the same for all years.  It is a standard Givi pattern and will hold any Givi trunk.
