I'm new here and have a couple of questions on my '13 FJR

Only older FJRs have ABS issues, and generally only the rear ABS - like mine. A lot of people didn't go through all the steps to properly flush and the actuators for the rear get clogged/stuck. Since the front does 90+% of the work for braking, I just don't use the rear brake unless I have to...

How old is too old (for jackets, helmets)?

I'll also suggest seeing if there is a local Road Guardians instructor who can use it for training people in Accident Scene Management and motorcycle oriented first aid. https://roadguardians.org/

How old is too old (for jackets, helmets)?

Helmets are supposed to be good for five years from the date of manufacture. So if 5+, they are not going to protect as well. Everything else - short of the CE armor - is probably fine if the material is still in good shape. CE plastic ages, though I don't recall how fast.

    Lansing NY: Motopumps.com

I've used mine to help a guy with an offroad pickup. It went slowly but got his wheel up enough that he could get to a gas station down the road.

    LED Tail Lights for 2006

If you're looking for a full unit with turn signals, the only one out is for Gen I. You can replace the incandescent light bulbs with LED versions. As long as you don't have a strobe/modulator, you should be fine. If you do have a strobe/modulator, you'd need to wire in a resistor between the...

    Correct. It won't.

Wanted: Gen 2 rider footpeg lowering kit

IIRC, they were all the same through 2016, at least. Just like the passenger footpeg lowering is the same across the years. I have a set recovered from a Gen II on my Gen I.

Wanted: Gen 2 rider footpeg lowering kit

MCL lowering kits come for sale every now and then. Besides forums, there is always eBay. You could also try a machine shop. If they can't bend it, they could fabricate a replacement.

H2 SX SE Sport Touring bike

Probably 186mph, aka 300kmh, which manufacturers have generally made the maximum speed on any of their motorcycles since 2000.

    H4 LED Bulbs

I hope you got the model with the cups under the low beam LEDs. The others are likely to throw a lot of light into oncoming traffic even when you have the high beam off.

H2 SX SE Sport Touring bike

No, I just pick at the tank size/range. The OP is picking at the side cases. :) HP isn't what matters to me. I'm more interested in torque. 101 ftlb is only 10 more than the FJR. I'd like to see if the curve is relatively flat or peaky. I do like the control/stability electronics, but...

H2 SX SE Sport Touring bike

The panniers are pretty close in volume to the FJR's. What bothers me is the 5 gallon tank and 36mpg. I'm disappointed with both of those numbers, particularly the tank given the competition. I think they could have done better on both of those. I expect the supercharger will require premium...

    Headlight bulb recommendations

I'm happy with mine. I didn't do anything sophisticated, like install one on one side and an incandescent on the other for a comparison. And I don't really like cool white lights like this, but I do believe I am more visible to oncoming traffic with that tint. The low beam LEDs also project...

    Supercharged Kawasaki Sport Tourer Coming

I'm betting a 650 Ninja as the base bike. Build it off a 1000 and they'll cannibalize Concours sales.

    Electrical Smuggler

World: The project is being revamped to use lead-acid batteries. Ross and Gary: The blinky lights are high intensity LED strobes. So they likely aren't all on a significant percentage of the time for most/all patterns. Each head is 4 LEDs. Each LED is a claimed 5 watt LED, and I believe it...

    Electrical Smuggler

garyahouse: I'm starting to think I should switch back to lead-acid. At least there are nominally deep-cycle batteries of that variety. Weight really isn't an issue as the seat pan can support an adult. I don't expect to talk more than a few minutes total, during an event. My Sena 20S was...

    Electrical Smuggler

Hello! I ride my FJR as a support vehicle for bicycle charity fundraising, such as the BP MS 150 - https://main.nationalmssociety.org/site/TR/Bike/TXHBikeEvents?pg=entry&fr_id=28263 - this weekend (13,000 bicyclists, which will raise about $16million for MS research). Forgive my lateness in...

I'm going to be trying out Evitek G6 bulbs. They are LED that have the proper structure to mimic H4 bulbs. LEDs should last longer...

    First Saddle Sore

If late April or May, I will have a 50watt ham radio programmed for all the repeaters on the way. It will be an 8w HT till then. I expect to have phone coverage on I-10 either through Verizon (personal phone) or AT&T (work phone), just no serious data.
