    First Saddle Sore

Pulled a muscle in my back. I've got commitments for the next two weekends, so April or May will be my next weekend of opportunity. BkerChuck, I've chosen all my gas stops, all at different towns each way. And I was looking forward to meeting some relatives for lunch that I've never actually...

    First Saddle Sore

Canadian and 101st, I have no experience with plugs and hadn't thought about them. I do carry a floor pump when I ride as a support vehicle at charity bicycle events, so that's easy to add. Amazon should deliver my Stop&Go plug kit Friday. HPPants, that is exactly my plan. Mesh jacket with a...

    First Saddle Sore

Thinking about leaving the house between Boerne and San Antonio this Saturday morning, having lunch in El Paso, and sleeping at home. 2005 FJR1300 with the previous owner's RDL. No risers - I need 36" sleeves on my shirts. Stock windshield, which I normally keep down low. I do have earplugs...

    WynPro ( BIG-FOOT)

Are you still making/selling the Big Foot for Gen I FJR1300? Is it still $24 for a stock exhaust bike? Same email for paypal as the first message in this thread?

    Grip Cover Recommendations

Hello! I'm looking for suggestions for grip covers for a 2005 GenI with factory heated grips. I need something that adds some diameter, as well as cushion.

    Bluetooth or In-Ear?

Bingo! Thank you for writing what I should have included. +10db is generally perceived as twice as loud. I would consider earphones if they were Bose QC 20 or some other noise canceling - not noise isolating - earphone. They can do -45db for some frequencies but less than -30db for most...

    Bluetooth or In-Ear?

Assume road noise of 100db. Assume earplugs are good for -30db. The sound level of road noise to your ear is 70db. Assume helmet speakers generate 110db. That would be 80db to your ear, and 10db louder than the road noise.

Split: 2005 ABS Lock Up Press or Stomp?

Well, I can hope the dealer got it wrong. I'm going to have to wait on performing the test for a bit. If the rear brake spool valve is toast, as predicted, what are my options?

Split: 2005 ABS Lock Up Press or Stomp?

As I said, I've locked the rear ABS twice at highway speeds. The first time, I laid a lovely 50' strip of tire before I got off the pedal because the backend was starting to come around. The second time was much shorter because I kind of expected it. I took it in to a local Yamaha dealer and...

Split: 2005 ABS Lock Up Press or Stomp?

I have a 2005 with ABS. I am not impressed with the ABS. You can press the lever or the pedal hard enough that the ABS doesn't function - you apply more pressure than it will relieve. I have locked the rear wheel twice during panic stops. I will say the front ABS saved my bacon when...

    New Philips H4 LED

For the first time, a manufacturer is paying attention to how a real H4 casts light. The linked article shows that these LEDs won't shine down when set to Lo - the first ever I've seen. At that price, I'll wait. Maybe I'll upgrade after my current H4s die....
