Reuben Run to YFO: What to do?

MacKenzie Pass (SR242) between Sisters and Belknap Springs is a very nice ride also. Beautiful road through the lava flows.... You could probably link these two together and make it a very nice few hours

    Yamaha sucks

It was a great race in Austria for sure. But it has been a strange year listening to the Yamaha guys - lots of moaning and complaining from Vinales and Rossi, then Quatararo finishes on pole and the podium on a year old satellite bike at multiple events. Maybe the '18 R1 was actually better...

Reuben Run to YFO: What to do?

i don't know if you're more of a sightseer or a rubber shredder, but if the latter you should definitely try to fit in Skaggs Springs Road. It connects 101 near Geyserville with PCH at Stewarts Point north of Bodega Bay. The eastern part of the road is literally a road racing track disguised...

    YFO 2019 - Sept. 12-14

After much deliberation and long soul searching, I've decided that I'm in Not really - just wanted to sort out my September schedule and make sure I keep everyone at home happy In any case I'm not sure if this is going to make the assembling congregation or but there it is.... see y'all there

Hee Hee to much fun for me - Pine Mountain on Wabs

I took Pine Mountain Road from Lebec to Santa Maria via 166 a few years ago and had a great ride. Through the Cuyama Valley its pretty flat, but the twisties past Pine Mountain Resort were fun, and I really loved the western end as you blast along the river's path - bad temptation to risk a...

DIY tire changer, a different take

Does it work well enough to consider it "market ready"? If you're considering it I'd recommend that it should be able to mount into a standard trailer hitch receiver - almost universally available.... and I'd be interested if the price is fair

FJRForum Official 2019 Iron Butt Rally Tracking/Analysis Thread

So I do see one interesting little trick in the requirements that were laid out and the bonii that were available. The ability to skip the 2nd check-in in Kennewick stated that one of two options had to be met - either a bonus above the 60th parallel or hitting the bookends (Cape Disappointment...

Also not trying to start any fights: Thanks for digging out the numbers, but did you omit the Harley contingent on purpose? I will confess that I was surprised by the number of entrants on Harley this year, due to my own perception (perhaps unfounded) on their systemic (lack of) reliability...

FJRForum Official 2019 Iron Butt Rally Tracking/Analysis Thread

Am I reading too much into your note, or do you think bonii in Alaska and/or Gaspe were the two optional items that "must" have been accomplished to be a finisher if skipping the 2nd visit to Kennewick? The note that was published earlier didn't provide those details, but it would seem to make...

FJRForum Official 2019 Iron Butt Rally Tracking/Analysis Thread

As far as I can tell, the math for the Alaska foursome is looking quite different. The last spot who left Homer this morning still seems to be 3,800 miles from home with only 59 hours left before starting to lose points - they'd have to average over 64mph from here with ZERO sleep to make it...

FJRForum Official 2019 Iron Butt Rally Tracking/Analysis Thread

What do you think the chances are that the rider in Homer can make it to the finish? Looks like 4500 miles to Greenville and as of now its 73 hours to the finish. With no sleep they'd have to average about 62mph ... Took a quick look at the weather and it looks pretty good up there right now...

Spend my money! (On a dual sport)

So how do you pronounce the name of that thing? Broze? Bras? Give us some feedback once you've taken it into the dirt - no way will I ever buy one, but still interested in how it turns out for you....

    New Job!

This one is VERY part time, like maybe 2-3 weeks per year, and the pay is crap so its more like a paid hobby than a job :) I'm still considering myself as retired! I don't think we're going to have an opportunity to get to the races but I'll definitely check it out.

    New Job!

I've recently stepped away from a 20+ year career at Applied Materials, and something pretty cool has fallen into my lap. One of my track day buddies has a daughter working for a promotional company. In previous years they had done work for Ducati, but as of this year they are working with...

Planning an Epic Trip to Europe

I've traveled quite a bit in Europe on business and while in the Navy, so here's my high list of places I've been personally (much of it covered already): 1) Barcelona - my favorite city by far 2) London of course - I love musical theater so its a no brainer 3) Vienna - the old town is...

FJR Has Gotten Too Heavy. What To Buy?

I've got a Ninja 1K and though I love it for commuting (60 mile round trip), my one trip of over 200 miles was not fun. It is tuned for torque, so getting away from stop lights is fun, and its light and narrow enough for splitting lanes, but its not too comfortable for longer stretches. It's...
