    need advice on gps

The 550 is more durable and easier to use because of the buttons. Mono BT is the only sacrifice. You can get lifetime maps from Garmin for $89 (less 10%) and you'll be good to go. I got a firmware update on mine via the web earlier this year so I think they are still supporting it. Be sure to...

    FS - Garmin Zumo 550 - Original Box, 100% complete - $475

Below are some questions and my responses about the unit if anyone's interested. Did you get unlimited map updates for this product? I did not. The maps on the unit are circa June 2010. But I’ve never been “off the map” so it’s pretty reliable. I know you are keeping your techmount, but does...

    ZUMO 550 Locked Up

Not trying to change the subject here, but I just got a Zumo 550 on eBay and was considering updating the maps. The current maps are not that old, about 12 months. If I buy the map upgrade, can I share it with my buddy who also has a Zumo or will it somehow only work with 1 device? We were...

WTB - Clean 2008-2010 FJR (no AE)

It's been way too long since I have had an FJR, it's time to get back in the saddle again. I'm shopping for a nearly new (or leftover), genlty used, never down, low mileage 2008-2010 FJR1300A. Prefer a private sale from a trusted member, but I'm open to dealers too. PM me if you've got a match...

    Repainting an FJR...

My 05 Blu-Jay fell on the driveway yesterday:( The right side is all scratched up - I had the saddlebags on (as usual) so it saved some of the fairing, but the bag got jacked up. Any suggestions on how to repair this? Thanks.

Thank you all for your input and advice! I'm taking it very very slow and my first goal is safety. Any suggestions on where to get good riding pants that are not too hot to wear in the FL heat? Phil

Thanks for the tips. I've completed the MSF class already. I'm not a complete moron! LOL :o Can you put a link in your reply for the throttle spring mod? I searched for it but couldn't find it. Tip over guards? Are these the 'sliders' I've been reading about? Thanks again for everyone's...

    Proud New Owner

I'm the proud new owner of a 2005 FJR with only 1500 miles and a 360 day warranty! I'm still getting to know my new ride, but I can already tell I make a great purchase. This is my very first bike, any 'must know' suggestions are welcome. Phil Orange Park, FL :clapping:
