    spencer seat mods

I checked out the website, but it's not too obvious what actually gets changed out. The foam material obviously, but also the covering material? And does he maintain the same shape of the original seat or does he reshape it? SR-71

What have I got in an FJR?

What the FJR? Just a good handling, moderately powered sport-tourer. As I'm sure you've found out already, there's a night & day difference between a JFR and HD (or Buell). The FJR is a nice machine with a good level of power, but as for the FJR being faster than a R1... there's no contest...

    First Ride Report-Nitrous

Where? Uh, he's probably bolting on a NOS system too. :P

    Ok... gas $4,5,6,7 per gallon...

"The point is, this isn't supposed to replace a bike as a mode of transportation. At least lets hope not because who the heck would do that. It's supposed to be an alternative to owning a car, at least that was my take on it." Point well taken Fred. The Aptera will never compete with the...

Snow? Like the FJR, if it's snowing I think most of us would opt to drive something a bit more suitable for the weather conditions. And not sure about the rest of you, but I typically try and steer clear of riding corrugated dirt roads, but it definitely sounds like there's some conditions up...

Today was a good day, a really really really good day!

Congrats Mark! You'll find you'll be looking forward to your free time much more now! :D Ride safe. (jekirby - What the heck is a dip dog?)

    Roadside Assistance

If you own a Recreation Vehicle of any kind, you might want to consider signing up with the Roadside Assistance Plan through Camper's World. It not only covers your RV, but also every other vehicle you own. The plan fully covers towing and provides several other benefits as well. Cost is $99...

My 'o5 FLR makes my wrists and hands sore!!

I had the same issues with my '05. I found that by adding a bar riser (if I remember correctly, I used a Genmar riser), relieved my wrist pressure. And for the vibration, I added the heavy Throttle Meister (weighted) Bar Ends which helped somewhat. I also added one of those slip on throttle...

    Ok... gas $4,5,6,7 per gallon...

kaitsdad - CNN is reporting today that most Americans are expecting to see $5 per gallon this year. If things keep up the way they have been going it wouldn't surprise me to see $6 (or perhaps more) by the time your car arrives in 2009. If that's the case, your price may seem like a bargain in...

A few comments... "I wonder what would happen to that car if I hit it head-on with my truck whilst pulling a 4-horse trailer....." According to Aptera they've done some simulated crash tests, engineered in several safety features (crush zones, etc), and claim the vehicle will fare well in a...

    Purchasing a FJR1300A or AE

Av8Rider - Congraduations! And no need to feel ashamed about the influence of color. When I bought my '07 I actually liked the color of the silver (AE) model a bit more more, but alas, we don't have a lot of choice in that regard. Enjoy! SR-71

    Purchasing a FJR1300A or AE

Sorry folks. Please let me apologize for my mis-worded initial posting. After re-reading my initial posting I realized I should have paid more attention to the way I laid out my wording. The thoughts I put forth were the analysis process that I went through in deciding which model to buy...

    Bummed! first test sit!

Obviously the FJR isn't a one-bike-fits-all type of machine. You might want to consider something slightly smaller, perhaps a Triumph Tiger, or something similiar - and lower it a bit if necessary. It's better (and much safer!) to feel comfortably in control, than to be nervous about...

    Akuma Helmet with Electrochromatic Visor

    Purchasing a FJR1300A or AE

Edited from my original posting. SR-71 I also pondered the A vs AE decision and was also offered an AE buying incentive. Obviously we all have our different wants and needs, so it's nice we have a choice. In any case, I heard there's a 5-to-1 buying ratio; A vs AE. I've also read most AE...

What to do, what to do?

Yeah, nice weather definitely brings out the "I want to ride" bug! :D Buying an inexpensive used machine to carry you until you deploy makes a lot of sense. Choose something you can turn around and sell for about the same price towards the end of the summer so you'll be about to recoup your...

    Farkles and other deep thoughts

It's easy to over-do the farkling to the point where it's maybe too much - although I'll be the first to admit, if they're properly installed, I like my gadgets. I had several things permanently mounted and wired into my '05. Just from the electronics side an accessory shelf held; Radar, XM...
