I used a small impact wrench to remove the nut when I changed the clutch on my '05 to the '16 slipper clutch. It worked just fine and didn't worry about the bike or rear wheel moving.

I did do the mod on my '05 Gen 1 and it went just per the book. No problems and I like it!

Thanks for your response Rich. I'm not certain but I don't believe J&M have a bluetooth dongle that connects with their 2003 CB unit. I may have to try to do some research on the J&M wiring and see if there is a way to feed the speaker and mic wiring in the headset cord to the SR10.

Wondering if anyone on here has tried to utilize the SENA SR 10 to connect the J&M 2003 CB to their SENA 20S of other SENA bluetooth helmet devices? I utilize both the J&M CB and 20S and would like to eliminate the wire connection to my helmet I currently require for the J&M CB.

Hmmmm, the thrust washer in my '05 was grooved on both sides so it didn't matter which way it was installed. Sorry , I didn't take any pics of that when I was working on the mod.

Fred, that idea for measuring the difference in clutch pull should work pretty well. My 'quantitative' guestimate is it feels like about 25% - 40% less force to pull the lever. I'm sure your your method will work much better then just a 'feel'. However it is definitely easier to pull. BTW...

Job Complete! Got the 2016 FJR slipper clutch installed in my trusty 2005. Pretty easy mod and works just as advertised. Glad I did it!

Update! Finally got all the parts required. Got the new clutch friction plates soaking in oil and since it's supposed to rain all day tomorrow it looks like I'll do the mod!.
