Riding a motorcycle is highly risky, right?

The following article is from a recent advice column in the Washington Post. When I first saw the topic I assumed the worst. That the advisor would heartily agree that motorcycling is a crazy dangerous activity with only morons as participants. I was wonderfully surprised and pleased by the...

    Vacation solo trip

"Frank JR". Ha! Took me a half moment to get it. Now I have a nice smartass reply for everyone who wants to know what FJR stands for. Big thanks! Glad also that you enjoy the bike so much. I think my 2010 is just about the best touring bike in the world. Solo is the way to go.

Riding, why we Ride, Safety - saw this on Quora

Sitting here in the pre-dawn with a cup of coffee while the wifey slumbers away and a lovely fire gently burning in front of me. Listening to soft classical music. Then, I get the added bonus of reading such extraordinary life (riding) philosophy from the likes of BigjohnSD and Fred W. What a...

    My Last Ride

It was even better for me because I truly thought it was for real at first and that it really was a story of your very last ride. My wife just loved it. Thanks! Best chuckle all day for me.

    Witnessing The Dream

Great pics and narrative. Sounds like a good time was had by all. Thanks for the post.

    Here I Go Again...

IMHO you are traveling the right way by taking the time to stop for stuff that so many others would just blow on by. I hit three museums in one day once in Oklahoma. All three were on a 100 mile loop and each one was superb in its own way.

    Here I Go Again...

A ride to the top of Mt Evans just got added to my bucket list! Super pics! Great commentary! Keep it up and be safe. Google maps tells me it's just a tad over 800 miles to Mt. Evans from where I am. Heck that's just around the corner for an FJR rocketship.

    Here I Go Again...

Your pics have reminded me of why I love riding anywhere in Colorado. Last year I even went south to north thru the super flat eastern half of the state. So flat, I swear I could detect the curvature of the Earth. Thanks for the superb RR.

    dropped my new fjr!

Damn, these tales really do make me feel like not such a dumb ****. I owned my 2010 FJR for a week when I dropped it in the garage. I believe to this day a shoestring caught the kickstand. I still wear lace up hiking boots because I frequently travel just to enjoy some hiking at the...

    Here I Go Again...

This is the type of excellent ride report that all others should be modeled upon. Great story and same for the pics. Sounds like you had a really good day. I'm impressed by the mileage. Safe travels.

    Posting pics from Smugmug

Great info to share with us. I've never been able to master the photobucket routine. I'll give this a shot and maybe get more photos posted. Thanks!

    Here I Go Again...

Some of my very best memories of riding involve Colorado. If you are near Colorado Springs there is a superb state park on the slopes of Cheyenne Mountain. Relatively new location with laundry and showers. The view overlooking the city at night can be breathtaking and you can hear the sound...

2017 Iron Butt Rally - Leg One Animation

This animation has really expanded my understanding of the event. I never imagined such diverse routes were possible. Great Job!

    Why, Yamaha, WHY?!

Just read all the previous posts and took a look at the official Yamaha media site for the 10. On their site the pics don't show the garish yellow rims. Just black about everywhere. I'm in the senior generation for sure and concerned about handling the weight of my gen2 for the future but so...

    Beyond Frustration--Mirror Mount Bracket Snapped

With all due respect, the use of JB weld is not something I would use for such a repair. I've use JBW many times in the past with success but the few failures I've had have been with elongated structures such as this mirror support. My vote goes to the solution shown by Redfish. JSNS.

FJRF009.4 "Spider"/Intermittent Ground Wire Failures 2010 and Later Research

I have to add my sincere thanks also to all of the electrical system gurus on this forum who saved my butt about a year ago when on a really hot Texas day all of the typical haywire electrical malfunctions began exhibiting themselves. I did some serious research on the forum. Set up a clean...

    Heavy ...

My own drop experience was one week after becoming the proud owner. Just finished a tour entirely around the city and had filled the tank before heading it into the garage. Popped down the stand and commenced to lean the bike over to the left. Oh ****, what's that odd grating noise? It's the...

    HELP! Bike died, no ideas

My 2010 model was bit last August. Review all you can on this site about the spider grounds and then carefully inspect each one. I was able to access all of them without removing the front cowling. My undying gratitude to the fellows who posted so much about this problem. All has been fine...

    Surgical Recovery Time before Riding?

I have also not had such a significant procedure but am a member of the general age group participating thus far in this discussion. (age:64) I'm in pretty good shape but am beginning to have knee issues and I've dealt in the past with dizziness due to over medication for high blood pressure...

    Wrecks comes in threes?

The same bad results can happen in the typical parking lot due to a momentary lapse of attention. How do I know? Damn near been there. Glad metal and plastic were the only things seriously damaged. Hang in there and keep on keepin on.
