    What would You Want ?

I'm pretty pleased w/ the FJR as it is. I think a fantastically comfortable stock seat would be nice, as would self-cancelling turn signals. Otherwise, it all seems good to me...though as '16 owner of only one year, I suppose I'm still in the honeymoon phase.

What did you do to your FJR today?

Took my first ride of the year on Sunday. Before taking off, had to do a few post-hibernation things. 1). I installed a chrome Cobra heat shield on the left bare pipe. Looks great! 2). Adjusted my suspension settings. I was so excited to get the bike last year that I didn't spend much time on...

ANNUAL PNW Tech meet #20 July 7th, 2018

If you're interested in soliciting opinions, I choose 6/16, and not just because it's my birthday. Like many, perhaps, we're usually gone for several days around the July 4th holiday, so 7/7 is particularly uncertain.

    Quiet Forum These Days?

A forum board needs a steady injection of new blood to thrive and prosper, to replace those who inevitably leave, otherwise attrition is the name of the game, as evidenced apparently here and at other hobby forums I frequent (one at which I'm a moderator). If you'd like the perspective of a...

    Responsibilities

James, my experience largely mirrors yours. As soon as we had kids, I stopped riding, even though I had been riding since the age of ten so knew my way around bikes and how to ride safely. Problem was, you can't account for others' actions on the road, and I suddenly had more priorities and...

    High-pitched electronic whine when running...

Thanks. Yes, I hear it only when the bike is running, cold or hot; I've not noticed it when the key is on but bike is off (i.e. at startup), other than the usual startup whine. No squeaks at any time...just the high-pitched whine. So when you say "whine is ok [after bike is started]"...does...

    High-pitched electronic whine when running...

My '16 is making a high-pitched electronic whine that I can hear when running (seemingly best heard around the rear of the tank area but it's admittedly tough to pin down precisely where it's coming from), and I can vary pitch via the electronic switch (knocks down a bit lower in tone if I hit...

PNW Fall Tech Meet #19 - October 14th

I was going to make a last-minute 'I'm in!' post after trying for the last month to move things around this weekend to make it work (and looking for tips on how to make the pigtail installation smoother for the mechanically disinclined like me), but instead I'm going to skip it and I'll see you...

What did you do to your FJR today?

Wow, that XS1100 is absolutely beautiful. I've lately really been getting into revisiting (through books and sites) classic Japanese bikes from the '70s and '80s. Probably because those are the bikes that I grew up admiring, but no other style of bike stirs my blood like that XS or a CB750 or...

Too much Smoke, Aborted N. Cascades loop..

Good to know...I was planning on a Last Big Ride of the Summer this weekend with a 3-Pass Blast, but guess I'll need to figure out another plan.

What a great story (and now I have new wallpaper for my PC )...thanks for posting that!

    2018 FJR release details?

+1. I"ve been suggesting that color for years. I just bought a '16 in gorgeous blue, but I'd still be all over a burnt orange model in a New York minute.

    2014ES or 2016A?

Correct: LED on 16+ A or ES...cornering/directional lighting on E only. I don't believe there is an A for '17...we'll have to see for '18, but '16 may be the last year. Incorrect: Heated grips are on both the A and ES...or, at least, my '16 A came with heated grips, and as far as I am aware...

    2014ES or 2016A?

Exactly. I have the '16A and could have bought a '14 A or ES (as I do really like the red...it's the bike, in fact, that initially caught my eye and put the FJR on my radar in the first place). Unless the ES is something that you just simply have to have (I didn't...I'm more of a...

How to add RAM stem mount to 2017 FJR

^^^ And of course I, ahem, meant my Other Right - that is, the *left* hand side.

How to add RAM stem mount to 2017 FJR

If you're not fixated on the stem mount, you can always put one in the stem hole on the right hand side that's set up for the ball mount.

Picking up my 06 fjr tomorrow....how do i ride it?

Funny enough, when I rode my bike for the first time a few weeks ago without bags (it's a new '16 I've had just three months or so), I found that as well, that it seemed more nimble, more flickable. I chalked it up to either being a FJR newbie (though I've been riding for forty'ish years) or my...

First Year Assessment of My 2016

I believe I'm going to have to steal that. I'll drop "ship" to as to not infringe upon your trademark. ;-)

What Generation are 2016 and 2017 FJRs?

Just to be contrarian (and, yes, I did vote Gen. 4), I would argue that a transmission mod is a far more major re-design (and deserving of a generational designation) than tweaking the fairing, since the latter doesn't change the bike per se (other than from a visual perspective). Throw on the...
