I had seen a few threads about the CEL, but haven't dived into them yet. Is it just a false positive or is there really a problem? As someone else who is looking at a blue '16 A in the spring of '17, this one has me a little concerned. From the couple of long threads that I've read about it...

Ah -- okay, thanks; I was aware of that issue. For some reason, I was thinking that post referred exclusively to Gen 4 (or improved Gen 3, however one defines the 6-speed 2016/17 model). Goes to show I shouldn't post in the morning before my first cup of coffee.

Did I miss a discussion/thread somewhere?? What "very rough engine performance" is present in (some of) the Gen 3s? Only thing I've read are the comments r.e. the Check Engine Light (CEL) problem associated with a slow key turn or turning off the bike w/ the kill switch (and an error that...

Yeah, that's my concern as well...just have to hope for the best.

Agreed; I was hoping they'd continue down the road of recent true colors like red and blue, but it appears they're sticking w/ the more typical, neutral gray, black, silver, etc. Oh well, that makes my decision next spring much easier...a '16 it is!

The first one is nice, but I do like that second one...while I prefer my cars classic and subdued in color, I like some vibrancy and color in my bikes. A dark English green, ala Triumph Bonneville, might look nice as well.

It might look a bit (okay, maybe more than a bit) Ninja'ish, but if one's eye can somehow isolate the green in the above rainbow pic and visualize it spread across the rest of the bike, that could be a sharp color for the FJR. Guess I'm just a little bored w/ the gray and black and silver color...

^^^ I know I'm inspired by that pic; hopefully the Color Choosers of Yamaha Corp. will be as well.

I'm going to continue to hope the new year will bring burnt orange paint...but I suspect I'll continue to be disappointed.

I'll throw in my perspective as a longtime cruiser rider, one who has yet to get a FJR...but plans to. I grew up riding on the back of my Dad's bikes in the '70s -- Honda CL and CB 350s and 500s -- and then graduated to my own bikes with, first, a Honda SL70 (and, later, a XL125 and XL250) when...

On that note, thanks to those who allowed me to sit on their riser- and Heli-installed FJRs @ the Carnation Starbuck's...it was very much appreciated, and great to confirm that I can definitively achieve the much more upright seating that I need to have the FJR work for this prospective buyer...
