Route Suggestions from Denver to LA in Winter

Heh. It went about as good as could be hoped for. Freezing cold at the top of Wolf Creek Pass. Only enough flurries to say there were some. Mostly my gear performed as desired. All in all, it was a good run.

Denver to LA on the Tenere - January 26/27 2018

Hello! Some of you might remember my request for route suggestions here. Well, I mix-matched some of the ideas I got, and the result is below. The Trip Thursday Jan. 25 2018 11:15am: After much preparation, the journey began. I took my daughter, Chloe, out of school early so I could take her...

    Baja in February

Thanks Abercrombie. No worries if it doesn't work out. There will be other opportunities to catch up I'm sure. :)

    Baja in February

Departing for Colorado this afternoon to pick up my new-to-me Tenere. I see it looks like you guys might all be retirees, but if you don't mind a youngster tagging along I might try to join you for part of the northern portion for a couple days.

Route Suggestions from Denver to LA in Winter

Thanks, AF! I have a few contingency plans built in. Looks like the snow should be gone, so I'm hoping I get to ride some Co twisties down to NM and AZ. I realized today I can rent a uhaul and haul part way if need be. I would rather wait than haul the whole way, but if I just need to get south...

Miss Lucy Liu/Lucille Go to Julian for Pie

Most excellent. How is Julian these days? I nearly went by on Jan. 4th, but rerouted home instead of continuing the journey after Lake Isabella, Death Valley, Joshua Tree, etc. Btw, great pic! Looks like you all had fun.

Route Suggestions from Denver to LA in Winter

...flight to Denver is booked for next Thursday afternoon. The flight is refundable (for credit) up until 10 minutes prior to departure (go Southwest!). So far the weather looks good. Low of 20s and high of 40s to 50s for every stop I checked along the journey (I checked the major cities and...

Route Suggestions from Denver to LA in Winter

Most excellent. Thanks, John. I'll try to coordinate based on 10-day forecasts. That might improve my odds, somewhat.

Route Suggestions from Denver to LA in Winter

Hey all. As of this Thursday, barring some unforeseen circumstance, I'll be the new owner of beautiful and well-outfitted 2012 Super Tenere. I'm buying it from a fellow in Colorado, and it will wait at Dad's in Denver until I can fly out to ride it home. I'm chomping at the bit, so sooner is...

    accelerated tire wear over time

Well, I guess I was thinking I already paid him, for the price of the PR4GT. :) There is some meat left, and after going over my maps I think I have put more than 3k on so far. If I do 4 or 4.5 k I guess that's not so bad, all considered. I'd say your 17k is pretty impressive!

    accelerated tire wear over time

Well, the first stretch was Grand Junction to Denver on the freeway, then onto Aspen, Ouray, Durango, then back to St. George UT and ALL the fun roads in between. After that was ripping down I-15 in summer heat to Vegas and onward to LA. That ride I was pretty loaded up. Then there have been...

    accelerated tire wear over time

Not really on point, but I'm getting a little annoyed with tire wear. I got about 4500 out of the stock rear. Ok. A little disappointing, but, a stock tire. Fine. Then I tried the Metzler Z6 when they were on sale. I got a whopping 3300 (maybe 3600, but I don't remember for sure). I later...

Thinking of selling; price check please

Not in Mo, but from what I've seen in Ca and around the country you are in the outfield end of the ballpark. You might try asking just a hair under $6 and prepare to concede several hundred in a negotiation. It sounds like your bike is desirable enough to draw a perspective buyer to look at...

    Which touring cruiser? Non-HD/BMW

I'm going to disregard the "non-HD" qualifier for a moment and advocate for a Road Glide. I owned a 2007 for a short time with the 96 CI, fueling tuner, V&H true duals, and a tour pack. For a couple months that bike got ridden while the FJR sat. It was just so comfortable, and the HD does have...

Gen. 2-3 Well used Sargent seat- $125 plus shipping

Hi Phil. Maybe I just don't see it, but where are you? Curious about this, but shipping will be costly without a business UPS account I imagine.
