    Saturday jaunt

I managed to sneak off to southern Ohio for a bit. Just a tick under 46 mpg and scores of dead insects. I'm really liking the Stradas and the FJR's ability to keep them on the pavement when the surface turns to crap. Here's a if you have some time to kill. Not a total waste if you're an Allman...

3 Years Of searching for Bultaco Parts and this is what happens

Sweet ride! Back in my younger days I owned an early 70's Pursang. Well constructed and scary fast (when it ran). I owned a 125 Rickman as well.

    10 minute ghetto camera mount

Dang, it didn't work that well. Seemed to resonate at certain motor rpm's making for some fairly psychedelic video. The postman brought me a ram mount setup yesterday. We'll see how that works.

    10 minute ghetto camera mount

I'd love to have a KLR, but alas my stubby legs won't allow it.

Helmet-to-Helmet intercoms - what are you using?

Scala Rider Teamset here too. Vox sensitivity could be better but at least it isn't turning on for no good reason. Battery life is excellent. I've used it for short range (30~50 yds) bike to bike.

    GPS Suction cup Mount

Same here. I did tether it to my tankbag though. When I went with a larger tankbag I had to go with the ram mount.

CNC Machining of a Motorcycle Helmet

There's a whole lotta detail on that part! Wonder what the actual machining time was? One of my faves, crankshaft machined from bar.

why are touring bikes so damn heavy??

I suspect the FJR and other sport tourers are generally more robust than the supersports. -heavier chassis and suspension components due to increased load carrying capacity -shaft drive -larger fuel tank -larger radiator -larger fairing/windscreen -increased engine weight due to...

    Neglected Winter Storage

Another rule of thumb: don't start it unless you're gonna ride it. "I'll start her up so the battery can charge". Bad idea. Stationary idling to operating temp + the subsequent cooling can produce mucho condensation. You have to heat/circulate the oil for a significant period to boil the H2O out...

Can you identify this vintage two stroke my Grandpa is sitting on?

Back in my youth I owned a couple of street smokers, a '67 Bridgestone 175 and a '69 Kaw H1. The Bridgestone was the better of the two.

Can you identify this vintage two stroke my Grandpa is sitting on?

Yep, 50cc Wards Riverside. That was my first bike.

    Top Case Backrest

Same here. My Givi had one and my wife says it's more comfortable without it.

It's Official - This Winter Sucks Ass

No problem, we'll just let a little air outta the tires.
