    FJR Mileage Milestones

My 2007 “A” model hit 60,000 miles yesterday on a 385 mile ride through the CA southern Gold Country (including strafing the Little Dragon). The bike seems to run and shift more smoothly the more miles it racks up - pretty amazing machine. Brian the biknflyfisher

    Smokers (BBQ - not grilling)

I’ll have to see if there any retailers near me that carry Green Mountain Grills. I think I’ll watch some You Tube videos on GMG in action…..

    Smokers (BBQ - not grilling)

Hey Smoking Folks: I’m looking to add a pellet smoker to my arsenal and would like some “personal experience” opinions from those that follow this sub-forum. I still have and regularly use my OK Joe, and will continue to do so when I feel like being outside babysitting the fire. But, there are...

Tracer 9 GT as FJR Replacement?

I just spent the weekend riding 1000 miles on all the Sierra passes from Lake Tahoe to Tioga Pass in Yosemite, and I would not have traded my 2007 FJR for any of the other bikes we encountered on the road. The handling, stability, power and comfort of my 650lb “tank” didn’t bother me in the...

    Headlight bulb replacement

An old thread, but still valuable! On a long ride yesterday, my left headlamp (as you sit on the bike) gave up the ghost after 58K miles. I found good hints on post #8 of this thread and applied that knowledge and got the bulb out without breaking anything. I will say that the rubber boot had a...

    Smokers (BBQ - not grilling)

Morning all, got the OK Joe fired up and have a 4.40lb pork shoulder (bone in) I that went in at 0630. A rack of pork back ribs will follow at 11:00, then some chicken will go in at 2:00pm. Will be good eats in the Loven house this week. Low and slow , that’s the way to go.

    Going to See the Eclipse?

I caught the 2017 eclipse in Rexburg, ID in 2017 just by happenstance. We were on a fly fishing trip and the day we had to get from West Yellowstone to Reno was the day of the eclipse. We stopped in Rexburg and went to a nice little park in town with lots of other folks and watched the event...

    Smokers (BBQ - not grilling)

Hello all: I think I’m going to do a pork shoulder and some chicken breasts tomorrow in the OK Joe as it’s been a spell since we had pulled pork, and it will be a nice day to be outside in Central Cal tending the fire. Been thinking about getting a pellet smoker at some point for when you just...

    Another long journey

Thanks for sharing these thoughts! I love taking off on the FJR with a map and a credit card for gas and just wandering where I please…… We are of a similar age (I just turned 64) so I get what you are saying, but still a working stiff.

What did you do to your FJR today?

Gave the bike a good washing in preparation for my coastal ride with my son Thursday and Friday.

What did you do to your FJR today?

Today’s projects: 1. mounted the front and rear wheels shod with new Pilot Road 4 GT shoes. 2. changed the engine oil &filter, running Yamalube 10W-40 GP Spec synthetic oil with HiFlo HF-148 oil filter. 3. changed the rear end oil with the Yamalube FJR spec shaft drive oil (you use what you...

What did you do to your FJR today?

Picked up my wheels yesterday with the new Michelins mounted up, and also picked up 4qrts of Yamalube GPspec 10w-40 synthetic oil. My tranny really likes that stuff for some reason….. Work will be done on Saturday…….

What did you do to your FJR today?

Well, still waiting to get the new tires mounted on the wheels. The week at work was hectic and my 2015 Chev Tahoe with 225,000 miles decided to finally munch the original transmission….. Nobody in my hometown mounts M/C tires, so they have to go to Fresno or Visalia to be mounted. Biknflyfisher

What did you do to your FJR today?

Pulled off the front and rear wheels as I have new Michelin PR4GT tires ready to be installed next week. Got over 11,000 miles on the current set of tires riding a mixture of curvy backroads and highway droning on trips.
