Had a thought recently regarding solving the heat problem, why not just strip off all of the body work during the summer months. Seriously. Wouldn't that allow the heat to dissipate away from the rider very effectively? Especially at speed? Plus I think it might look kinda cool too. Thoughts?

BMW makes a "sneaker-boot" that's quite cool. Only ankle high, but offers good protection, is comfortable and light.
