This is how it looks now... (without the side cases)

    Look what followed me home!

Still have it and I have put 38,000 km (24,000 mi) on it in the two years since the post. No significant issues at all other than having to replace the OEM battery and a set of brake pads. Valve check was OK but on the edge so I'll likely have to adjust the next time (in the spring). A few...

    Gear changers

I notice they list products for Gen II and Gen III 5 speed, but nothing for 6 speed. Is the "auto-blip" downshift a different product? (Just curious, don't feel the need...)

    Gear changers

I wouldn't attempt going from neutral to first without clutch under any circumstances. Or any other gears if you are accelerating hard. I am comfortable with clutchless shifts under modest acceleration from 3rd to 5th although I don't make a habit of it. I rarely downshift without clutch...

Looking for info on my recently purchased FJR.

I believe that the only recall for 2014 was the front brake switch and Yamaha should be able to tell you if it was done. They might be able to tell you if any warranty repairs were done, but I'm not sure if that info is made available to subsequent owners. Note: You can buy a subscription to...

Parts Wanted Looking for a rear wheel for my 2015 FJR

FYI, I believe that anything from 2008+ will work for you - only difference is color for some years. May help to widen your search parameters. See: https://www.fjrforum.com/threads/looking-for-a-rear-wheel.181442/#post-1462354

    Regional Rides

All dumped into this sub-forum as far as I can tell. Now impossible to see upcoming rides or events by region. Quite a few thread organisational changes have made finding specific regional and even technical stuff much harder to find. Even NEPRT disappeared and while repetitive, it was...

Greetings from an aspiring FJR owner from Boise, ID

2012 is still Gen II so 2013+ for both. I think heated grips were standard around 2010 or so.

Difficulty starting with a warm engine

I would still use a clamp-on DC ammeter to check current draw on starting before I just went ahead and replaced the battery. Sounds like a classic starter issue, despite the fact that it is fairly new. Intermittent issues are the worst! You could go another two years without it happening...

Is The FJR1300 Dead? No 2025 Model?

I wouldn't panic yet. I think their website still has to be fixed - "Touring" includes the Tracer 9 and the Ténéré 700. At least on the Canadian site, they listed two flavours of Tracer 9 (9 and 9 Y-AMT) along with the FJR. At least they put the T7 under "Adventure". The super Ténéré appears...

There was some difference between my '07 and '11, but it wasn't a big deal (to me), despite my mildly arthritic hands. I have heard that the slipper clutch on the later Gen III bikes was a significant further improvement.

Greetings from an aspiring FJR owner from Boise, ID

I know you have had lots of FJRs and probably have experience with more different model years than anyone, but I put almost 200,000 miles on a 2007 and over 100,000 on a 2011 (so far). While I found that the clutch pull was a bit lighter when I went to the '11, it wasn't a game changer for me...

Greetings from an aspiring FJR owner from Boise, ID

Biggest issue with early Gen II is some electrical gremlins (grounding issues, mainly). Easily repaired and less of a problem in later ('09-'12) years. I had a 2007 that I sold at 295,000 km (186,000 mi) with zero engine/clutch/transmission issues. Couple of sets of fork seals, a gear...

Greetings from an aspiring FJR owner from Boise, ID

You will find that the FJR is easy to maintain. The need for repairs are infrequent and can mostly be managed by someone with a modest selection of tools and mechanical experience. Lots of assistance available on the forum. Welcome, and good luck finding a great FJR that "speaks" to you...
