70-80 MPH and over fish tail feeling

You do have a point. I have ridden this at a $1 + and it went very straight with the stock windshield. I was cruising at a $1.20 and no problems. Since I have put the oversized Yahama windshield on I haven't ridden on the highway too much. Since I get clues from the FJR Forum what to do, it...

70-80 MPH and over fish tail feeling

You could be right, as I said in one of my prior replies. That I got on my bike and bounced up and down on it. What it did was the bike went an extra bounce to stop. I thought what good are shock settings if you can't put them in a medium position. I read somewhere that that is a sugestion to...

70-80 MPH and over fish tail feeling

I did look at the Michelin Pilots but was shyed away from them. I did a test on my FJR and it feels better. Before I rode off. I bounced my rear suspension and it seemed too mushy for the rear. I switched the lever to firm and I believe that is/was my problem (soft settingon rear shocks). It...

    What tires do you use?

70-80 MPH and over fish tail feeling

I replaced the tires as a set. The Bridgestone was cupped badly to warrant replacement of it also. I seem to recall the bike starting to do the fishtailing one day comming from work. It was so slight I didn't know if I was imagining it. It did it a little more again so I thought it maybe the...

70-80 MPH and over fish tail feeling

The tires were mounted by a very well known tire store. Rain grooves were not on this streach of road. We have a mix of pavement here in Ohio on highways. I noticed that I went from Asphalt (wobbling) to concrete and it seemed to go straight while I was on the concrete. I will evaluate this...

70-80 MPH and over fish tail feeling

I know, but apprently everything that I did should have been done anyway. I just hope it improves the handling without buying new tires. Thanks For your help.

The fork tubes/caps are the same then, the triple trees are 5mm closer to the ground. I just did this and haven't tested yet. Thank you, Ron

I did go with a taller windshield, I think probably about 2 inches taller. It is made by Yamaha windshield.

70-80 MPH and over fish tail feeling

I had heard that if you lower the rear that the front should also be lowered. I went with higher air pressure in the front and lowered the tubes 5mm as suggested. I will try it out tomorrow and let you know. Thank You, Ron

70-80 MPH and over fish tail feeling

It has me stumped. My old "73"Kawa Z900 went straight, My "84" Kawa went straight, my Goldwings went straight but they all just handled bad in twisties. I have cruised at 120mph with this FJR before at 2400 miles on odometer w/original tires and it went straight. I remember it starting...

70-80 MPH and over fish tail feeling

Would 36 front and 42 rear be recommended? That is what i have read.

70-80 MPH and over fish tail feeling

I guess this is a possibility. Are tires warranted or do I just get a new one and try another to see if it solves it?

70-80 MPH and over fish tail feeling

Everything is stock and original except the tires. Bike is clean and always garage kept. I did put on some rear lowering links, I lowered the bike about 1 inch. Inseamed chalenged at 30" inseam.

70-80 MPH and over fish tail feeling

The bike isn't ridden too much because I race bicycles and don't ride too much after doing training of 300+ miles per week. Now that I am older and slowing down, I am starting to ride the M/C more, I have about 1000 miles on the new tires. the bike did it a little (not much)with the original...

70-80 MPH and over fish tail feeling

I have a 2005 FJR with 7000 miles on it. Running empty bags on the highway and no trunk it has the feeling that the rear end is fish tailing. I have checked the front end and torqued the headset, checked the rear end and torqued the swingarm, rear axel. I recently replaced the original tire and...
