2011 IBR - The Inside View

It's noble of you to defend him but I agree: he doesn't need your help. And I don't think he was referring to that story about Eddie and Tom. Whatever. Congrats to Peter on a monster 3rd leg for the win and to all of the riders for a great rally. 14,185 miles by Jim Frens is just...

Saying someone cheated... That's a bold statement, even for an armchair rally rider. You might want to either back it up or retract it. - Tim

Oh? Someone cheated? Who was that? - Tim

Rain any day: I hate broiling. High heat fatigues me much faster and the risk of dehydration is obviously much higher. Edited to add that after a day of riding in high heat, even a 75 or 80 degree night feels arctic and in the past I've actually worn full electrics in similar situations. - Tim

And there are some who are on their 3rd or 4th BMW with nary a problem. Did you have some point beyond "my shit's better than your shit"? Jumpin' Jebus you Yamaha riders talk about BMW final drives so much it makes me sorta wonder if ya'll have some sorta complex ;) - Tim

2011 IBR - The Inside View

While I understand your points intellectually, I don't understand them at all on an emotional/competitive level. I don't remember much of any of the places I've been on the IBRs and other rallies I've been in. That's not why I run in these events. My intent has always been to challenge myself...

2011 IBR - The Inside View

^This I agree that a strong finish should be more important than a strong start and I'm hoping that the hints about a curveball in Leg 3 are legit. As it stands now I see Meese and Peek and anyone who got the Maine corner on Leg 1 and KW on Leg 2 as the podium finishers. - Tim

+1 on the Neosporin. I had this issue starting on Day 2 of the 2003 IBR with a set of molded headset plugs and I used Neosporin for the remainder of the rally with no problems. - Tim

    A Great Loss

Terrible, terrible news. My condolences to his family and friends. - Tim Conway

2011 IBR - The Inside View

^^^This Agree 100% about the easier miles, at least before the major rains set in. Unless someone got the Maine corner prior to the 1st checkpoint, I don't see how Meese and Peek are caught. I assume they can make up State Capitol bonus points on the 2nd and 3rd legs to offset whatever points...

2011 IBR - The Inside View

Emphasis added by me In that official note, Tom was not implying that Key West would be the site of a big bonus and I'd be very surprised if they announced anything like that for Leg 2 as it's already a necessary component of the 4 corners bonus. Tom was pointing out that by getting the Maine...

2011 IBR - The Inside View

I'm thinking the rider or riders who seem to have gotten the 2nd of the 4 corners in Maine may also be in good shape. To whit, they will be able to blow off most of the east coast state capitols (since most aren't far off the route and are presumably worth few points), pick up a few higher value...
