    Soft/Mushy Rear Brake Pedal

Just checking to see if anyone has had to deal with a soft or mushy rear brake pedal. There seems to be a lot of travel in the pedal and takes longer to engage the rear brake. Had the bike in for service and the owner mentioned it to me when he took it for a final test ride. He changed the...

Good shop in Dana Point area of SoCal?

Thanks Frank .... I'll check them out. Looks like they're very close to Mission Motor Sports (who I'm not impressed with).

Good shop in Dana Point area of SoCal?

I'm looking for a good maintenance shop in the Dana Point, San Clemente, Laguna Niguel area of SoCal. Just for normal type maintenance, tire mounting, etc. Any recommendations out there? Thanks for your usual helpful input.

Tire Repair Kit of Choice ?

It's time for a new tire repair kit. I have been carrying a "Plug It" kit, it has the normal plugs, tool, and CO2 cartridges that are now probably 5 yrs old. I don't have a lot of confidence in using it now and fortunately I haven't had to. Just interested in what is popular out there and what...

My 2013 Has A Cruise lite blinking ---FIXED

I posted on the main forum a similar problem with my 2013, with the blinking cruise light, but I also had the check engine light come on intermittently as well. I don't know how to post a link here but the original post is under my name "valkmike" in Oct. It also provides a dealer service...

Damn ....... It did it again

Ya, when I saw that the fix required a re-flash of ECU, I asked the same question about the cruise limit. The service rep looked at me and casually said "No" and then just smiled. Oh well, it was worth a try.

Damn ....... It did it again

OK ......... I took it in to have the dealer look for fault codes, etc. and much to my surprise (delight) he found a newly issued Technical Bulletin (M2014-015) just issued on Oct 2, 2014 around this very problem. The bulletin states under certain circumstances: "When traveling downhill for...

Damn ....... It did it again

I found the exact symptoms outlined in the Service Manual on page 1-12. I don't know how to post it here but if you have the manual you'll see the 'flashing' cruise light and the 'engine trouble warning light'. Only problem is I don't see any 'Malfunction Code' displayed. Do you need the dealer...

Damn ....... It did it again

I checked the battery connections and all looks/feels secure. It doesn't appear that this is the problem. Other thoughts or suggestions ? Anyone else seeing anything like this on their Gen III's ? It's literally been a year between these two episodes where this shows up.

Damn ....... It did it again

Haven't check the battery connections since I put in the extra fuse panel right after I got the bike. Will do that right away. Thanks for the info

Damn ....... It did it again

OK, so I'm on day 3 of a week long ride. Just riding along normally with the cruise control turned on but not set. I look down and see the cruise icon light flashing off and on (blinking off and on). A few seconds later the Check Engine Light comes on. I turn the cruise off and the check engine...

    photography on your FJR

When I'm touring I keep my gear to a minimum, Nikon D300S with a 18 - 300 zoom lens and my tripod. Along with a couple of filters, this gives me great flexibility for most situations. I use a small 'fanny pack' type of case which is a good padded snug fit for camera and lens and use one of the...

    Upgraded Clutch and Brake Levers

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Seem like everyone has a positive experience whether they chose the cheaper 'knock off' or the more expense originals. I'll go ahead and give it a shot and replace the originals.

    Upgraded Clutch and Brake Levers

Can anyone advise what the practical advantage is to upgraded levers, other than they look better than the originals. The AVS replacements are pricey at $100+ per side and are clearly high quality material but that's a big price to pay simply to look cool. Is there an advatage to the shorter...

Gen III Check Engine Light ?

Just returned from a week long tour in N Calif. great ride, great sights. Returning from Yosemite back to the motel, I'm on a nice, somewhat twisty road, I noticed that my Cruise Control light was flickering on and off .... hadn't seen that before. Turned it off and back on and it was fine for...

    Canyon Cages Arrived

Would love to see a pic of the left side with the peg in the down position. I still can't seem to tighten the screws (even leaving one out) because of the angle.

    Canyon Cages Arrived

Thanks for the pics Richard. I had moved mine to the same place on the right side, but I couldn't figure out a way to get the left side snuged up that far and be able to tighten up the screws on the clamp. The other concern I had on the left was how close the clamp is to the clutch cover, if it...

    Canyon Cages Arrived

Received my highway pegs, but having a hard time finding the right location to mount them on the cages. Fairlainer, I looked at the photos you posted and saw how you've mounted them but it doesn't look like it give much relief in terms of streching your legs. I tried mounting them on the...
