Highway Pegs for T-Rex Engine Guards

Fred, it looks like the rubber inserts come out, judging from your shot of the backside. Could then the metal parts you have simply be powder coated?

Just picked up my '14 FJR A

The FJR is big and heavy and powerful. She is also incredibly reliable. Learn it carefully and respectfully, then enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!

    Indian Chieftain Demo Ride

I rode the Chieftain for a day and Mr. Hunter. has gotten it right. They are nice bikes of high quality though the LCD info screen can only be read part of the time. They are big and heavy and slow and expensive so...not for me. I also rode a Ducati Multistrada 'S' Touring for two days. Light...

Gen 1 - Seat stuck on the bike!

My seat latch mechanism got sticky to the point it didn't work. Took it apart, cleaned and lubed and all is good. Cleaning and lubing will likely help you some.

HD makes a "Sport Bike" well almost....

I was at the Idaho Motorcycle Show last weekend. Speaking of assless chaps, I saw one older dude who was keeping his up with suspenders. But the suspenders did not have the H-D logo anywhere. Coffee almost came out of my nose.

HD makes a "Sport Bike" well almost....

Seems like somewhat better suspension, though travel is still minimal. The rest is another H-D styling exercise. Yawn.

How Would YOU Sell This Bike?

I'd donate it and take the tax deduction. If I tried to sell it, I wouldn't ask more than $1,500 and I think you can get more than that off your tax liability. A real handy moto mechanic could probably get it reliably roadworthy for...what? $1,000 in parts (trans, starter and ABS) plus 20-40...

    Expanding Your Vocabulary

I had some kind of little biting beetle get into my pants. He decided to chow on the old nutsack. At roadside pants and underwear down, I spotted, then dispatched, the little bugger. Good thing I was in the remote Palouse country of Washington at the time so I don't believe there were witnesses...

What do you use for trip planning?

Thank you for the humbling plugs, fellas.

    '16 Review from RevZilla

From the Auto Week review: "Cons: Seat hard as a rock, could use stability control for even better cornering" Okay, we all know about seats, but this guy also buys into "the FJR needing refinement and improvements" mantra. There is no end to that road. We can all want and expect the "next best...

Just Picked Up My New FJR

Well, some think the FJR is a Fat Girl, but compared to your Fat Boy, she is a nubile nymph. I agree, the FJR may be one of - if not the - finest motorcycles ever made. It does it all pretty well for not too much money, and like a Timex, just keeps on... nah, won't go there. Enjoy and keep...

    Tire Plug / Re-Plug Advice

If re-reaming yields a larger hole, you can use more than one worm (or "sticky string" as I've heard them called). I've also found that getting the tire carcass good and hot and flexing it (riding the bike) will help the seal. I've heard that described as "vulcanizing" the repair.

What do you use for trip planning?

"What do you use for trip planning?" My wife. She always tells me where to go. Seriously though, she does our route planning with input from me. She uses mostly paper maps and has a file drawer full of travel information she's been collecting over the years, a lot of it with after-trip...

What's the Weather like where YOU are today?

Light snow this morning but predicted clear and highs in the low 60s Fri-Mon. Time to ride!

Radiohowie is BACK after 2 months gone!

Welcome back, Howie. Most of what should be said has been, especially about the humor and communication lobes remaining intact. A positive attitude, which you have, will be the most significant factor/advantage in your continued recovery. Bikes may not be in your future but other fun certainly...

    '16 Review from RevZilla

My wife's RAV's six-speed auto is somewhat annoying in that it seems it is always changing gears. Head up a small hill, down to fifth, then fourth; top the hill, up to sixth. I understand the computer is selecting a gear where the engine will run most efficiently. Still, a whole lot o' shifting...

    '16 Review from RevZilla

Anyone remember the Chevy Powerglide? Two-speed automatic: first too high, second too low. My '64 Falcon had three-speed manual. My Scout and Bronco had four-speeds. My 4-Runners had five speeds, my Tacoma has a six-speed. Wife's new RAV4 has six-speed auto. The Tacoma six-speed has gears that...

    I Couldn't Be Happier........

So "well being" is defined as "happiness"? Maybe. There is no state other than Montana I'd rather live in, except November through February. Winters used to be a lot more fun (when you get older, shoveling and ice really suck), but if you like hunting, ice fishing, skating, snow skiing...

Not sure what to do.... but I fear the FJR is out the door

This may not be about the bike, but may be only about you. Could you go back to the V-Rod or Valk at this time and ride pain-free? IMHO it's likely got something to do with the position of your head/neck. Seeing a doc or PT may be the best advice...or not. I, too, had extreme pain and numbness...

What did you do to your FJR today?

Yes, nocturnal critters. Saw a wolf Wednesday night about 9:30 in the right hand ditch. He was moving at a good clip toward a group of 8-10 whitetails I had seen about 100 yards previous. This was along Hwy. 200 in northwest Montana about 40 miles from the Idaho line.
