    Flap About Flaps on 13s&14s

Well, you gentlemen have started a stampeed to the Dealer on this part, I stopped by the dealer on Tuesday and ordered one, told me it would be in on Thursday. stopped by last night and they said it is on backorder and is expected sometime in early March. It's probably not a big deal for me...

If You Could Only Have 5 Motorcycles

Honda NR750 (tried to buy one from George Barber, I was told "He only buys bikes, never sells") 2014 FJR in Red Honda Rune 2x 250cc dirt bikes to use with my Grandson

    Spray-on paint protection

I would suggest doing the bags first before the headlight. The coating goes on cloudy and as it cures it clears up. Use the included "wax" to make the surface slippery, I think this is to aid in removal operation later. Watch the video link included on the process, it's not hard. Keep the...

What is your GPS of choice?

This will seem old school, but I use a Garmin 2730. It is an older model, but still able to get updated maps. You can find them in refurbished or used condition and they are pretty durable and waterproof. The 2730 is XM capable with the GMX30 antenna. To get bluetooth, I use a cheap made in...

    Canyon cages

About a 20 minute job, and what helped the most was the pictures of the cages installed on the forum. I wasn't exactly sure of their placement until I confirmed it with other owners pictures of their installs.

    Spray-on paint protection

I used the 3M Paint Defender system. I applied it to the top half of the luggage prior to my trip out west with the grandson (pictured at left). By the time we got home (~6000 miles) the bags were scuffed from boots and dirt. I cleaned them up like new with a light application of automotive...

    center stand

I didn't mention it in my appraisal of the two bikes (ST1300 & FJR), but the FJR is the first bike in my last 3 that I can "pop" up on the center stand. The ST is still a bear for me, and my CBX was so tough I used a piece of 3/4" plywood under the rear tire before attempting a center stand...

FJR and ST on a 6000 mile 3 week comparison

Unfortunately for the bike buying crowd, the ST is the same, except for color every year since 2004, so other than the mileage, my ST is on par with a new ST at about $6000 less purchase price. Yamaha has revised their offering in an attempt to correct issues, while Honda feeds us the same...

FJR and ST on a 6000 mile 3 week comparison

Yes, the cruise is limited to 82 Yamaha MPH, which is about 79.7 Garmin MPH. I understand that in other countries the limit is much higher.

FJR and ST on a 6000 mile 3 week comparison

6000 mile comparison of my ’04 ST1300 and ’13 FJR1300: First off, the comparison is my opinion with a few facts thrown in. Take things as that, just my opinion, yours might very well be different, but that’s ok, that’s why they make both of these bikes and the many other competing bikes...

What did you do to your FJR today?

Well, I put my money down on a 2013 FJR and am expecting it today or tomorrow. The delay is I am having them install the touring windshield. Local dealer was very helpful and accommidating with pricing, met the best price I could find on the net, added YES for $400, and didn't charge for the...

    2013 Good price?

I sent them an email asking what additional costs were involved, the reply: To answer your question about additional costs, it varies from unit to unit. As a general rule there are 3 fees. Freight, Doc and Prep. They usually total $1200. If you are interested in the FJR, I can check on the fees...

    Retirement

When I retired 7+ years ago, I had about 6 months of projects lined up (home improvements, motorcycle restorations, etc). Today I have about 8 months of projects lined up, it never quits, and I have had no inclination to go back to work ever again. I don't understand how I worked (or showed up...
