    Flash to the Past

Back in 2002 I got my PDP deposit in the very last week they were taking deposits. I was in the middle of a divorce so I made a$500 "loan" from the ex's account. Started watching the forums and when the first bikes started arriving I got all giddy. Then I read something that made me nervous...

    How would Yamaha do it?

Just an observation.... I'd be willing to bet that much of this same conversation went on in that room filled with Yamaha design engineers, product planners, project managers, manufacturing engineers, etc. when the FJR was being conceived. And at the risk of a possible tangent.....here's a...

    How would Yamaha do it?

I too am in the camp that trying to shave 100 lbs from the current design would be a tall order. Honestly, design engineers aren't totally removed from reality in that they probably looked at the competition and how those bikes were being used (abused?) and decided to up the factor of safety...

    FJR storage

I wonder if he knows that his frame is about to bungee jump from the rafters?? Tom

    Cheap FJRs in Florida

Remember too that money supply (i.e. financing) is tight too. The interest rates might be down, but the qualifying is a different story. Too bad I've got my money tied up in my garage/workshop/mancave project or I'd drop my '03 like a cheap ho' for that 2009 in Lakland. Tom

    Avon Azaro ST AV45 120/70/17 $39.99

I too would like to offer my thanks. I recently bought a Storm rear only since my Metzler front still has a couple thousand miles left in it. Still.....this came at a good time since the front will need changing so I bought a front Azaro. Wow......39 bucks for a front tire. And you know...

    SpeedBleeders for FJR1300

In case anyone that has a 2003 model FJR is interested in SpeedBleeders, the chart they have on-line for the 2004 model will yeild the incorrect parts. You would think that between the 2003 and 2004 model there would have been no changes in the caliper bleed fittings, but apparently there was...

    HID Lighting experiences?

Ok.....put me into the dumass camp too when it comes to this HID stuff. Even though I've wasted over 2 hours of company time reading through all the threads, I'm still a bit in a fog ball. The DDM Tunning HID's are not the same as the telescopics, right?? If that's true, how does their bulb...

    Fork oil level question

Thanks folks for the speedy replies and information. And in case you're curious, I'm just doing a fluid change, new seals, and installing a set of 2004 fork springs in my 2003 forks. I would love to have been in on the group buy action, but being this close to Christmas, saving for a trip to...

    Fork oil level question

Need some help..... After reading several articles posted at FJRTech, I got it in my head that the fork oil level was to be 100mm. Then I found an FJR shop manual posted on-line and it listed the level as 79mm. I have a 2003 US model, so can someone please clear up my confusion? Thanks! Tom

Tell me we can't run with the sport bikes....

Yeah....the FJR is a capable bike and like I've said to many people, a scaple in the right hands will do some pretty carving. However....... 100+ on a public road.....isn't that special. And dogging, I mean "pushing" (as you said) the crap outta some guy. Well that's just special too. Sorry...

    Dropping The FJR and YOU

Doesn't seem to be a category for my dumass move, so I'll describe. Wanted to take the FJR with me to a 50cc event, yet wasn't sure both bikes would fit in the bed of my Titan. So, I park the truck at the end of the driveway and position the loading ramp just as I've done several times. Well...

    Dec Ride

Having ridden those roads more times than I can remember over the last 18 years, I can vouch that not only is "the loop" nice, but so too the routes also mentioned. I would also throw out that the Richard Russell Parkway can be a lot of fun too (unless you get behind a sloooooow and scared...

    Andersonville, GA day ride

Friday after Thanksgiving the weather here in Savannah, GA was awesome and the prediction was the same for Saturday. So I said screw doing laundry and cleaning house and got out my Georgia state map to plot a course to Andersonville, GA (site of the civil war Confederate camp officially known...

    Aprilia SXV 5.5

Rickster....these guys were at a motorcyle show in Blairsville, GA the weekend of the 50cc Fun Run (last weekend in October). https://smithpowersports.net/ They had both the 450 and 550 Aprilia's there and claimed they still had some back at the shop. Didn't get a chance to ride one but I...

    Bad Press on Sportbikes

I had to chuckle when I read some one's post about the cyclist being on "a dangerous road". Ironically, the posters' sig says that he doesn't give ambiguous answers, yet "a dangerous road" is not ambiguous?? Anyhow....just an observation. Not trying to start anything. Another observation is...

2007 FJR Orders Through D&H Cycles

Hello folks. First time posting, but not new to the forum as I've lurked here off & on for a while. FWIW - I appreciate all I've learned from this place even though there are somethings I wish I DIDN'T know. ;) Oh - I own a 2003 FJR and a H*nda NS50. Anyhow..... Just wanted to make a...
