Is The FJR1300 Dead? No 2025 Model?

The Sport-Touring section of the Yamaha USA site still looks quite lean this morning.... On a positive note, the MT-10 makes it to 2025.... but why the MT-10 designers come up with these goofy-ass wheel colors is beyond me.

Righteous, clean living brings good karma...

Follow-up on this situation.... decided that I only wanted to do this rear suspension work once. So while I had the replacement bolt to reconnect the factory shock, I decided to wait for the new Penske arrived, and just swap them out then. Removing the factory shock from this tiny racebike...

Righteous, clean living brings good karma...

You got me.... that wedged-in steel spacer was acting for the bolt, keeping the linkage from moving about - it wasn't offering any "clunk" noises or movement, so it wasn't detectable. 🤷‍♂️

Righteous, clean living brings good karma...

So I was replacing the factory chain after 27K miles, when I spied from above that one of the oil line keepers for the Pro-Oiler had come loose on the swingarm. When I got under the swingarm to fix it, I discovered that the loose keeper was the least of my concerns... Holy fucking...

    Long-Distance Endurance MT10 Project

Back from the 5-day blast-o-rama on the MT-10 to score Hueys and RTExUSA sites.... bike continues to impress. A new discovery: riding this bike in extreme heat is quite the challenge due to little rider protection. It's the same with extreme cold - this is naked bike, you need to learn to deal...

    Long-Distance Endurance MT10 Project

I elected not to do much with my factory stator, because I don't ride at night anywhere near as much as I used to. The MT-10 does turn into a rolling stadium light when I need it to, and then I do keep a closer eye on the voltmeter. When the outer four lamps are lit, I shut down the other lamps...

    Long-Distance Endurance MT10 Project

Starting to gear up for a stomping 5-day blast over the July 4th weekend.... it is strangely comforting to balance these Bridgestones T32s with fresh tire nubbies in the morning sun:

Still tearing it up as much as I can.... these two locations are on the PNW-GT rally for 2024: GT18, Harrison Creamery, and GT19, Drifter's Western Bar & Grill, both located in northern Idaho:

    Long-Distance Endurance MT10 Project

I sure hope everyone is out there banging out some miles - summer has finally arrived in the PNW. 🔥 🔥 🔥 You can believe I am... this was from a Nevada Tour of Honor SS1K I did over Memorial Day weekend: Northern Idaho Veteran's Cemetery - this photo is now the cover of the Tour of Honor...

    Long-Distance Endurance MT10 Project

Well... that is a 4.3 gallon fuel cell. One doesn't want to go too nuts on the cell capacity, at least, I didn't want to. I am no longer competing in events, so I don't need to carry 11.5 gallons. This cell combined with the MT-10's tiny race-bike fuel tank only affords 8.8 gallons total. This...

They make a HUGE positive difference, no question. Even though replacing every single factory line on this ABS system was a butt-pain, totally worth it in the end.

    Long-Distance Endurance MT10 Project

I am starting to gear up for a Tour of Honor SaddleSore 1000 in Nevada over Memorial Day weekend. Did a shakedown run to northern Idaho last Friday to test out modifications done over winter. This is Dent Bridge, a very impressive cable bride that just comes out of nowhere, approx 15 miles...

    Long-Distance Endurance MT10 Project

After 3 painful months - this Beast is finally back on the road. New powder-coating job on the Aux Cell that came out killer. The Spiegler SS Brake lines are incredible. The carbon fiber pieces were a huge ass-pain to install, but certainly look sweet. Ready for some 2024 adventures, finally...

    Long-Distance Endurance MT10 Project

This is more intensive major surgery than I was hoping for. Not all that close to wrapping up this job; I have Samco hoses coming from England, so I have to leave the engine bay torn asunder until they arrive and are installed. Can't say I am looking forward to the bleeding job here...

    Long-Distance Endurance MT10 Project

This is turning out to be quite the winter make-over. Now I am in the Death Grip if installing Spiegler SS Brake lines. This is a slightly painful process due to all the ABS plumbing. Got some HEL interlopers on my Spiegler Stainless Steel line kit. Those four bleeders are for the ABS pump...

    Considering returning to FJR

Unlike Keith, Annie and I were able to transition easily to the Tracer 900 GT in 2021. It helps that this model can carry FJR1300 side cases natively, so we have not lost any carrying capacity.

    Smokers (BBQ - not grilling)

Jesus Christ and General Jackson! I have been toying recently about scoring one of the smaller Trager wood pellet smoker's, and I recalled there was a little thread about that subject here that I should review.... shyeah, 11-year-old thread and 149 pages!! o_O I'm sure there is a ton of good...
