    The Why Not 2024

Sending best wishes on your quest; hope all is well as best can be expected.

I rode my new FJR home from the dealer today - Clunk/rattle!/lower fairing issue?

I would try to find the 'smoothest' road I could, then find some isolated imperfections and see if I could better isolate the area of concern. Good luck and hoping it's just something simple. You could also put it up on the center stand and do some static inspections in the area of noise.

2009 Gen2 died while riding to work - frustrating and I need some advise please

Do as Mcarver suggests; recheck your previous work (disassembly/reassembly) for pinched, misplaced, broken etc. wires.

    Oil change; should I, or should've I?

As long as your last ride got the oil temperature to operating temperature, and burned out all the moisture, you will be good to go so save your next oil change till when you reach your next mileage interval.

I don't care for the top box (either).

There're off; all gone (maybe one still on the grid), at less than six minutes.

    Spark plugs replacement

If they are standard plugs, I would have them changed; if iridium plugs and haven't been fouled by the condition described, I feel they should still be good.

    Fuel gauge questions

An '04 owner since new; always a gallon and a half when reaching reserve; this has been mimicked by most here. You just have to do the math for your bike and condition(s).

Headlight adjusters: do they do anything?

Yes they do, but they are very fine tunable. Put your bike on the center stand, aim it at a fixed wall in front of you and twist away!

Where do you buy your oil change kit from

The two things you don't want to see on your motorcycle oil is the Starburst symbol or Energy conserving label.

    Oil filters size options.

Don't listen to me, I run the Fram (6017); not that there's anything wrong with that. :) Ever hear of a engine problem/failure because of an oil filter; I won't say never (but pretty close).

Blue 2005 5300 miles Houston TX 2 owner.

Good on you, it appears that you just had some tired fuel. Maybe run some fuel system cleaner and some highway miles. Best of luck with your new ride.

    Tesla's "autodrive"

Radar ACC should do better than cameras'; I have pedestrian alert on my Caddy and it recognizes walkers.

    Intermittent Brake Lights

Plus one on Ignacio's diagnosis process. Check for sticky or bad switch; foot or handlebar.

    Extremely low MPG

Original poster mentioned staying in second and third (gear) a lot; well, you're not going to get stellar mileage that way. All other suggestions valid.

    Clutch Slipping!?

You don't want Mobil 1 Synthetic car oil in your wet-clutch engine; if this is not the case then disregard this reply.

    Fjr1300

Remember that when blipping the throttle, it will struggle (by design) until it comes off high speed warmup.

Any one else notice gas mileage has decreased significantly?

Costco gasoline is Toptier rated (so that is good from the standpoint of keeping your engine clean), 10% ethanol will decrease your mileage by approximately 3% (over non-ethanol fuel; hardly noticeable), and as mentioned earlier regular is the preferred recommended fuel for your motorcycle. It...

I have a used Champion FJR cover. It is somewhat sun faded but still works. I don't know how long it might last but you can have it if you want it.
