2003- to 2004 lower plastic swap?

You will need turn signal adapters (wiring). The plastic (upper and lower) is a straight swap. Before I sold my '03, I swapped out some '05 plastic and got to use the glove compartment. Very nice. Didn't bother with the electrically controlled lock. I used part 5VS-82509-00-00 and replaced the...

    I There A Better Battery

Eh. Too bad. The Yuasa (factory-style) is great. Put in a WPS battery for kicks and it's noticably weaker. $.02

    2003 Frame Sliders

Have you tested those yet? Those sliders are a bit higher up than the through-fairing... With the relocation, will the impact be transmitted directly to the frame or can the bracket bend, allowing all kinds of nasties? Just curious... :assassin:

    2003 Frame Sliders

The part of the fairing you need to cut out is the same for 03-05. My 03 is wearing 05 lowers at the moment and bolt right up to the 03 uppers. The sliders installed without a hitch. I have tested the R&G sliders. I personally believe I can still walk because of them. I posted about this...

    wire harness

Pep Boys carries a harness that can be modded to fit into an FJR, and they sell the smaller style relays for it, too. Personally, I combined one of those harnesses (for about $20) with the one that came with my PIAAs to power a fuse block and the switch for the accessory lights. Even came with...

    closed batterys

I got a little over three years on my '03. (Replaced it last year.) I rode it nearly daily for most of that time and never put a 'tender on it. I imagine it could last even longer if maintained properly.

    FJR Deer Hunting

dunhamq, I would guess by the age of your bike and the damage incurred, it's going to get totalled - or really, really close. Sorry to hear about the bike and gear, but I'm glad you're okay. warchild, stories like that - though gruesome - never get old. (My deer hunting stories are not as...

    Nomex Suit on,,,,, gadgets question

I got the Scala Rider from these guys: https://www.helmetshop.com/items.asp?Cc=SCA...amp;Tp=&Bc= But, I've only used it a few times and pretty much figure it's only good for commuting when you need to be in touch. (When it took me 40 minutes to get to or from work every day it made sense.) It...

Need a deer-strike icon for signature line

THIS is the dogpile I'm used to seeing here... I'm gonna have to refer the daring graphic artist to Aerostitch's roadkill combat stickers for inspiration: https://www.aerostich.com/product.php?produ...=298&page=1

    glove box farkles

Hey all, I'm adding a glove box to my '03. I'm looking for pictures of how the lock mechanism in installed to the box. Also, what box farkles would you consider necessary or desired, if you could "start from scratch" the way I am? I'm doing a lot of custom wiring for the 'ol gal right now...

Forest Rat Dead, Bike Dead, Rider OK

Good to hear you made it through that one. I've hit two deer and ridden away - both with the FJR. It's a solid bike! I got a good laugh at the "deer in the headlights." Isn't that how they tend to wind up? Thanks for sharing!

Do people ask you what your bike is??

LOL. I'm a bit kinder to those that don't simply waste my time for the sake of being annoying. I believe that is the result of being on the wrong end of "the customer is always right" too many times. I think my last career before I retire will be working for the postal service! :P

Do people ask you what your bike is??

Back in late '02, I got everything from the thumbs up, to is that a Suzuki or a BMW... Now if some drooling, patronizing, well-meaning, "people aren't meant to ride motorcycles" cager asks me if it is a BMW, I ask them, "Why are you talking to me?" (Kevin Costner's best line in "Waterworld.")...
