What's the NUT when it comes to leathers

If money is no object and you want leathers then look no further than Dianaese (sp?) Ride Safe. Marc

    Dual Sport

I have a KLR650 and say that you should really ride one before deciding. For that matter ride everything and then make up your mind. The KLR is great on the road and I have not had any problems off road with it. I would call it a true 50/50 bike. Yes it is larger and heavier than the real dirt...

    Hello Gun Owners

I would also agree to stick with the 22LR. The Mag is a good round but quite a bit more expensive. With the 22LR you can get all kinds of ammo to do what ever you need. Good single shot or bolt action rifles will probably be the most accurate. A good old stand by Ruger 10/22 semi auto would also...

    Hello Gun Owners

Look on the Barrel of the .22 that you purchased and it will give you the caliber. I would assume that you purchased a .22 and not a .22 Magnum. If so DO NOT shoot .22 Magnum ammo in your rifle. The case length is longer and the bullet diameter is larger. If you purchased a single shot or bolt...

    Dang I must be spoiled

I was not sure which forum would be the best to post this in but decided the FJR one would be the best. I took my R1150GS BMW in for service this morning and the loaner bike they gave me for the day is a brand new R1200S with a list price of well over $16K. I tell you what, ;) After riding the...

Get a 70's Yamaha RD5. :dribble: DOH! now I'm showing my age. I guess the question is do you want to be competitive or have LOTS of fun? B) Ride Safe

    PPIR

I know. With PPIR and SCR both shutting down this year the track situation looks bleak. :bye2: I am hoping some more and better tracks will be built but that might take several years. BUMMER. Marc

    Tirefly Lights

I tried two different set of these on my HD a few years back and they just kept flying apart going down the road. Maybe that is why they are called tire FLY. :D The ones I tried had the plastic end caps on them and were a real waste of money. Maybe some of the newer style would work. Give...

    Garmin Gps Route Calculation Problem

I have found that the best way to work this is to set up several way points along your route in MapSource. Download the route consisting of these way points to the GPS-V and then when you start the route, choose "follow roads". What this will do is actually calculate the route, following the...

    The Almighty Harley Rider

It must be a Texas thing. :D I was up in the hills one day just taking a break by the side of th road and of the 100 or so bikes that went passed 10 Harley riders stopped to make sure I was OK. This was when I was riding my YZF600R. So it must be a Texas thing. :P Every one waves here except...

Is This The FJR Cap That Yamaha's Sending?

I did not get one either and I have had my bike a whole 4 weeks now! Heck I have not even received any of the Y.E.S. stuff yet so I guess it is time to wait again.

    Chicken Strip Question

I agree with Alan and thus this is why the question was posed. On my other bikes I feel that at the most I am running at 70% leaving something for the unexpected. With the front tire on the FJR looking (subjective) like it is at 90% is my concern. I will play with tire pressures and some more...

    Chicken Strip Question

Matt, Thanks for the clarification. DOH! :) I just assumed that everyone knew that term. I guess I should use the PC term of "Using all of the tire challenged" :D Cheers. Marc

    Bmw 100,000 Ft Ride

I am signed up for the 100K ride Saturday as well as a few I know off the STN board. I can't decide if I should ride the FJR or the Beemer? ;) I will probably take the FJR as I did it last year on the Beemer. See you there. Cheers. Marc

    Chicken Strip Question

Here is another question from a newbie to the FJR. It is not a tire post so I don't get into trouble. :D I am not a super aggressive rider on the street so this has me a bit baffled. On my BMW R1150GS and My Ducati 998S I have about 1/16" to 1/8" chicken strip on the rear tire and about 1/4"...

    Heat Issue, Observation And Comparison.

For anyone that cares :D I did a little comparison on the heat issue between my 05 FJR1300 and 04 Ducati 998S. I rode them around the same route tonight and compared the heat given off by the two bikes. The air temperature this evening is a mild 84, and while I agree that the FJR does give...

    Squeak!

I have always found that a rather large mud puddle will cure most suspension squeaks. :D DOH! Wrong bike. Marc

    Gas Mileage And Range...

Boy I hope my gas mileage gets better with a little more mileage. It had 150 miles on it when I left. I took a 450 mile little mountain ride Sunday and averaged in at 38mpg. Average 60 to 90 mph 80% twisties 6k to 10k feet. :( Ride Safe. Marc
