This is the offending item, works great other than however it picks up the noise. The whine is still there btw, just bearable now.

I've found the cause ! I've had a windscreen deflector on since day one. Took it off yesterday to try and get better airflow in the hot (21-22c) weather we've got here at the moment, and lo and behold, the noise is gone ! The deflector must've been accentuating x20 tyre whine or the gearbox or...

Thanks for the replies guys. I tried to record with the mobile but unfortunately can't hear anything with the wind noise on it. Might try again with it in a sock or something.
