    Long-Distance Endurance MT10 Project

The FJRs stators are freaking units. I used to draw 200w from mine just for heat, maybe another 50 for other stuff like grips and lights and my phone. And then on top of whatever the bike uses. If anything make sure you have a very good battery, FJRs really don't like weak batteries, mines...

    "upgraded" from my 2007 to a 2018

Wow! I guess you made out okay then, glad you're not too beat up. If I went back to an FJR it would definitely be one of the newer ones with the 6 speed and LED headlights and dash. The new body style is much nicer too, looks much sportier.

Let's all gather around and laugh depressingly at what Kawasaki has just created for us. "Ninja 7"

Oh, as far as performance goes for the Ninja, you have to push a button every time you want to use the full power of the electric motor, and it only lasts for a couple seconds anyways. Electric only range is 7 miles. Bionicpork mentioned the bike being good to get into a city with electric only...

Let's all gather around and laugh depressingly at what Kawasaki has just created for us. "Ninja 7"

You're onto something, but Kawasaki is sending them to our dealers, and our dealers are genuinely regurgitating the same nearly false advertising. And not in a city, we're out here in the sticks, where gasoline vehicles can go anywhere. If it was just a Europe bike, I wouldn't really care and...

Let's all gather around and laugh depressingly at what Kawasaki has just created for us. "Ninja 7"

https://www.kawasaki.eu/en/Motorcycles/EV_HEV/Ninja_7_Hybrid.html Yes, it's a hybrid. It's a similar setup to the Toyota Prius (which, other than the CVT, is fine). It can go about 30 mph without the gas engine. It's also an okay looking bike. Other than being 500LBs, I imagine not having a...

Screen extensions - any good on stock screen?

Just sharing my experience. I no longer have my 2008, just the GS now. But mine came with the stock screen with one of the lips on it that's specifically shaped for the FJR, I did not like it at all. It didn't really seem to make an overall difference and on top of that it was very difficult to...

    Error 14 - repeat issue

I won't try to fool anyone that I'm an awesome mechanic lol. I didn't use any solvents, I just blew it out with compressed air. Yes, big thanks to everyone here for that. I'd have no idea at all

    Error 14 - repeat issue

I had a look at that. I managed to get into the diagnostics menu and then realized I was further in over my head than a guy pitching a pyramid scheme on shark tank. I hit a couple buttons and the fuel pump kept turning off lol. Is there a way to just read stored codes? I'll read the writeup...

    Error 14 - repeat issue

No stored fault codes. Once the bike figures itself out, the "14" goes away. If there's some kind of magical dance to get it to show more codes, I can try that.

    Error 14 - repeat issue

Been an interesting week... I dropped my keys while riding home, curse me and the new fangled BMW keyless ignition... Of my three vehicles, all three vehicles keys were on the ring, and the old dusty FJR1300 is the only bike I actually got with a spare key. Yes I should have made spares, I know...

    Getting a new bike, beamer...

My GS is at the service mark so I suppose I'll ask, Ross, which oil you use? I'll probably use Rotella T6 5 40 again I have been enjoying the FJR less now with this BMW lol. I may end up selling it, it feels incredibly heavy and slow handling by comparison. It's advantages are pretty much just...

    Getting a new bike, beamer...

Yeah... pretty much. Mine is between 1.5 hours and 3.5 hours depending on a lot. I'm 100% doing this maintenance myself, I don't need help losing more money lmao

    Getting a new bike, beamer...

Thanks I hope I love it. I love moto camping too, great time. I don't trust their specs very well either I may disagree on the top speed, since I didn't trade it in, the chances of me doing some top speed runs with a GPS are high. I've seen 165 indicated on mine, probably more like 150-155...

I must ask, how does the GS compare to the FJR in longer rides and touring?

    Getting a new bike, beamer...

If it fits you, I can't blame you at all. The 1300s are nice too. My irl FJR friend just traded in on a KTM 790, but I think he will end up on a 1200/1250/1300 because of touring. Another friend on a 1200GS wants a 1300GSA

ADVrider seems alright so far. F800riders.org is cool, but pretty quiet... BMWmoa.org may have been where I saw some people talking smack on the F750GS/F850GS lol. we're not all dang 6 foot 2.
