Does 42.5 mpg sound like a decent average for fuel use? We were riding 2 up and gear from Portland to Reno. Doing 80-90 ish on the freeways and 70-80 on 2 lane stuff and obviously quite a bit slower whilst enjoying the very fun twisties on the road thru Lassen Volcanic Park. wow, is that beautiful or what? Loved the ride coming down from the pass heading north.

Sounds too good for me. I figure if I get that good of milage I need to crank the wrist a little harder!!

Sounds good to me, too. However, even with a heavy throttle hand and +80 MPH, on long, (relatively) straight runs on Hwy 89, I still managed 53.9 MPG!

I usually get about the same...43 or 44. But there is some strange force in play between Tonopah and Ely on Hwy 6. I only got 28 MPG during this leg of the WFO-5 SS1K. WTF?

Yep, 2-up and loaded at those speeds. Sounds "right-in-the-ballpark" to me.

Besides, when you add in the grin-factor...mileage-shmileage!
