See UPDATE below ...

I called my dealer this afternoon (SouthBay Motorsports in National City, CA), and spoke with Ted. He then contacted corporate - and was told that the bikes were being held in wait for the sidecases. He was told 'towards the end of the month". And then he apologized, he doesn't like the situation either.

Essentially he's not getting paid his margin because of the bags.

He was also told that unlike in the past, they would not be released without the bags - however, he also said that we might get surprised.

Eff the bags - give me the wheels !!!

 :(

(gee - what's another two weeks after 5 months, eh?)

UPDATE - UPDATE - UPDATE

Called Ted again on Friday 17th- he now recognizes my voice. (Hmmmm .... wonder why ....)

He called HQ with me on hold - and was told they expect the bags on the 27th - so he expects to see the bikes at his dealership (110 miles south of Cypress) by Friday - (yes, children, that is still March) So - Maybe I can pick mine up on April 1 st? (wait a minute - -...... coincidence ?) ... :(

BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! That's a friggin' riot! Bags aren't in! BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!! Wada load of crap! BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! :lmao: :rolf: :haha:

MadMike? You're up, brudda! :D

Yamaha outsources the bag manufacture to China. I was told the bag shipment came in on schedule but they were all painted European red. It will only be a 6 week delay - tops.

I wonder if they'd just paint my bike red instead?! ;)

Yeah, roight! Yep! Yah, shure, you betcha, dat's duh deal! Yamaha didn't deliver the '04s or '05s sans sidecases! Hee-hee-hee!

A new marketing stratagem: "We know you want your bikes absolutely in proper trim, so we're going to hold them until they are complete, that is, with panniers".

Let's see, the bags on both my '04 and '05 came about 3 weeks after the FJR was delivered, so that will make the delivery real close to, or on, April FoolsDay. How perfectly appropriate, don't you think?

Bwaaaa-haaaa-haaa! :D Just think of those crated '06 FJRs being warehouse fodder....expensive paperweights....door stops....lunch tables for warehouse workers. Bwaaaa-haaaa-haaa! :haha:

Waiters beware, we feel your pain and are more than willing to add to it. Waiting really, really, really, really, really sucks! Baaaaaa-haaaaa-haaaa. Hee-hee-hee-hee. Chortle, guffaw, snicker! :D Bwaaaaa-haaaa-haaaa :haha: :rolf: :rolf:

The biggest changes to the FJR since the initial introduction of the '03s in N.A. and Yamaha N.A. has decided to hold them until the sidecases get here. Hmmmmm, oookkaaaaaay! :stunned:

Eventually, you will get your FJR. It will be everything you hoped for and everything the rest of the "upper classmen" have told you. On the way home from picking up your bike you will begin to grin inside you helmet. Pretty soon, your cheeks will hurt because yo are smiling so largely. The memory of waiting will begin to fade and after 25 miles, you will not remember what you were so anxious about becaue the pure joy of riding your new bike will erase any pain you have been feeling.

But, until then, we told you so! :haha:

Ya know, it's like takin your 9 months preggers wife to the doc, and she says, 'any day now'

and I'm waitin' for the call.

Put those suckers on a truck, will ya?

I learned the same thing from my dealer's owner yesterday....wottah crock of BS! Like the shop owner told his rep: SEND me the bike...now! I'll second that: let's see can I ride my new bluu FJR withOUT bags? Yes...can I ride it if itzz sitting in a warehouse becuz of noo bags...NO! The logic here is????? Of course in the meantime my dealer does NOT have my $$$; sure glad I have my 1200R and Suzook SM....gee no bags on either, but I sure can ride them. Fortunately I was able to ride my Sporty briefly late yesterday in 52F temps....rather cool on her. Sure would have been comfy on an FJR...hello Yamaha...anybody THINKINN out there???! DFO

If only I could take 4 weeks off to ride and care for my new bike 24/7 like I took off to take help my wife care for my daughter 24/7 when she was born...

I mean...this is a new addition to the family, my wife just doesn't seem to get that!

All this waiting, now it's being "put-off" by Yamaha North America (probably until the Sat., April 1st), then once the bikes are here you'll have to check the engine numbers and compare them with the list on Hmarc's site to make sure you don't have one of the French de-tuned engines. Man-o-man-o-man I'm glad I'm not a waiter again, and both of mine came with the US Spec engine.

On another note, it's supposed to be sunny and 65 degrees next Saturday, March 18th. I guess we will be riding to Occidental....and feeling sorry for the waiters. ;)

Well, if the bags are not that far behind - a week or 2 (or even 3) - then I'm sure Yamaha is thinking it would be easier for people to make one trip to pick up everything then to come back twice. And for people who have to travel out of town to pick there's up, this is prolly appreciated. Sucks for the rest of you, but I for one, would rather make only one trip.

Uh, Mikey? Remember that the California bikes don't get delivered til May per the website... BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! :haha:

Hey, my bags are sitting on the rack in the garage collecting dust. I'll rent 'em to you waiters, say for a deposit of $500. I'll deliver them to you this month. Really!

BWAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! :rolf:

It was fun riding without bags for a month or so. It's a whole 'nother machine. Wished I had the bags on when insurance guy wrote my policy, tho... No, sir, this IS NOT a crotch rocket! It is obviously a TOURING BIKE! B)

Dealer was inept installing the bags. Didn't loctitite the little security screws, but thanks to this board, I caught it.

My guess is first USA bike is delivered on or about March 15. Previous years delivery seem to start in the latter half of the promised month. Add your info to HMarc's list, and check previous years if interested:

Twelve miles off the coast waiting for bags. And customs paperwork. Them thilly thailers are tea baggin.
