'06 Electrically-locked Storage Box

The electric solenoid lock on the current FJR's is a power hog. It consumes almost 10 watts. Fortunately, it's rarely energized.

It seems that the '06 lock release with be energized whenever the key is on. It will be a continuous consumer of scarce power. Hopefully, it's been redesigned to operate at a much lower power level.

Although it's not been publicized I expect the '06 charging system will have a somewhat higher output. It has more electrical loads (standard ABS, etc.) and an added 30 watt accessory power socket.

It's not according to the rep I spoke with at Alice's gig. It would require an engine redesign per the rep.

When I told him about the rework WC was trying and how Cypress had squashed it , he pretended to be shocked and said this was the first he'd heard of it, even though earlier he stated the he and others at Yamaha monitor the boards all the time.
