Ok - who has farkled their '06? I'm trying to figure out where I'll put the power strips (one will be switched, the other not) and have been staring at the dash and handlebars trying to visualize gps, v-1, cell phone, radio mounting locations.

No one has a dash shelf, yet and the closer location to the dash might prove problematic for mounting various stuff.

Have my first farkles ordered and will soon be adding the following: (probably tonight)

Vista Cruise

Vee Strom Hand guards

Chrome pipe cover (X2)

want to add ASAP

V-1

Powerlet outlets - at least 2.

soon to follow -

Autocom

garmin 2610

Sirius Satellite radio

cell phone (not totally needed, but nice)

Autocom will tie v-1, gps, satellite and phone together.

on order - PHID's

Dual Star Heated grips and controller

Suggestions? Any real world experience out there?????

Oh - is the little square on panel B where the old flasher switch was located? If so - looks like a nice spot for grip controller and powerlets.

Bringing bike home from 600 mile service tonight and should start farkling ASAP

connect powerlet outlets direct to the battery so they are hot.

believe the square panel plug is where the heated grip controls are on the AE model.

It was a question I posed here a while ago.

Looking at pictures of the '06 compared to the '05 and earlier and I think you all are going to have a bit of a tougher time cramming parts in nooks and crannies. Me thinks you're the guinnea pig here Chuck. Don't be disappointed if there aren't a bunch of answers already....you may be the one filling in this board on the answers you come up with.

One of the problems will be in setting this up so that the folks at the shop can easily un-hook it - and of course - return it to proper condition when giving it back. One of the problems I had with my bmw is that often times my stuff wasn't re-connected after a service visit - require another tupperwarectomy to reconnect.

a good labeling system wouldn't hurt. Anyone have a good weather resistent cable labeling system? shouldn't be too bad though.

Hmm, wait a sec. Might there actually may be a benefit to not having my '06 yet?! Nahhhh, I wish I had Chuck's problem! :D

Chuck,

When I added a bunch of farkles to my GL1800A I used some electrical tape and a Sharpie. Of course, black tape doesn't work very well, but it is available in white, red, green, etc... It worked really well for me, butt... YMMV... :)

not interested in moving to different gps - this is the one I have -

Not interested in XM - Have Siriius and like it better.

what i am interested in is suggestions on layout.

Chickey191,

which vista cruise are you planning on using? Is there one that actually fits the 06 FJR, or do you still have to drill the hole?

I"m getting ready to order some grips and a vista for mine (if it ever gets here).

thanx

GreyGoose

I purchased the single/dual cable yamaha vista cruise.

As far as I can tell it will fit once you file down that little tab - might have to pull the grips off a smidge.

I think you will still have to drill the hole, unless you want to put some goop in there (which I woudn't suggest)

Oh -

I'll probably replace the grips with bmw sport grips, when I get around to it. I've got over 100,000 miles on those, even wearing one set down to bald. I like them a lot and they work well with heat.
