Since alot of folks has aired tech problems with the 06 I though I might add this one. I noticed since I got the bike when backing out the driveway from the garage, the front brake lever would bleed down about an inch or more. And only occassionally while stopped holding the front brake it would bleed down sometimes an inch or less. This happens all the time when backing but only sometimes while stopped. Never noticed any bleed down while moving forward thank God. I thought the problem backing might just be attributed to the design of the ABS system but not any other time. When I took the bike in for the 600 mi. check the service manager said he had not had any complaints nor had heard about this but checked it out and agreed there was something going on. They checked the brake system and found no problems. Since the problem doesn't exist while riding I haven't pursued it. So just wonder if anyone else might have encountered this situation? PM. <><

Do I understand you correctly, when you're backing the bike up, you can compress the front brake lever without having the pads engage? Or are you saying something else? Not sure what bleed down means... but that could just be me...

Painman...my `04 @ 24,000kms has exhibited this trait since day 1 but only infrequently. I`m pushing the bike around (backing up) and the brake lever sinks. I consider this to be an idiosyncrasy (of sorts) and nothing to worry about...the brakes have been perfect in every other aspect! :assassin:

The seals in the resevoir are gone...or toast. Probably never installed. Or, rolled over when installed. Go back to the dealer and have them reseal the front brake lever.

Unless, of course, you are superman and can compress hydraulic fluid. Sounds like several people have this problem.

It may be an idiosyncracy of the linked brakes that just doesn't feel right to you.

However, just in case, since the bike is fairly new and under warranty, I'd recommend you have a competent dealer mechanic look at it. That assumes that you can find a dealer with a competent mechanic.

It acts like shuswaper describes. They did check it they said, but the competent part is still a question mark. I will certainly keep my eye on it and if the problem does increase I will address it further. I have the 48 month warranty though. Thanks for those replies. PM. <>< :)
