Is there an adjustment for this? Anyone know offhand where the sensor is? I'd like my lights to come on sooner, more like in dusk than when it's dark. Grrr.

(No haven't checked manual yet, did search tho, came up with bupkis)

Also looking for the contact of the guy who sells yami OEM parts at good prices, (I'll need an 06 left mirror). Seems to me his info should be in the FAQ. :D

They don't go on and off. They're on anytime the key is on.

Where are from in Cincy? I work at GE.

Gary McCoy. University Motors. Fargo, ND. The rest Google will take care of. Or do a forum search.

I think what he is asking is there an adjustment to adjust the brightness of the back-lights (like in your cage)

I would like them to be brighter (or appear to come on sooner) as well.

My guess is not unless you installed brighter bulbs. (then you would have other problems maybe)

-Heat, melting, stress wiring harness, getting to the damn things, etc...

In pitch black, dark dark nights away from city street lights I have no problems with the dash light level.

Maybe it's me just getting old :)

I'm not sure this is true on the 06.

I've been wathing this since I got it. When we were riding in the rain, it was dark enough to need them but the lights definately weren't on.

As for my location, I'm 'technically' in Trenton, OH, and work near Kings Island.

In the manual, they do show a dimmer (#72) Dunno where that is... It's fine when it's dark, just not pre-dark for me.

The meter lights are LEDs on the '06. They are illuminated when the ignition is switched on.

The '05 and earlier had incandescent bulb meter lights. LEDs have a longer life -- more reliable, probably lower power consumption.

The dimmer switch #72 is the high/low beam headlight switch.

Well @#$%

My problem with the dash lights on the 06 is the color. The gages all have a reddish tint at night which doesn't give good contrast and makes the speedo a bit harder to read (the numbers are already too small to begin with). I wonder if the lights in the gage are red, and if they could be swapped out with clear ones. Guess I will have to pull my gage apart to find out.

I think they are, I played around with them last night. I swear they act like they have an ambient light sensor. Maybe it's the sun glasses I wear.

But I moved the bike in and out of the garage, and for me it's just the time at which they become noticable and when they aren't.

There's a period of not contrasty enough for me in between. But I'll live with it I guess for now till I figure something out.

;) (Note for you crack heads out there, this is neither a bitch or a whine, just an observation, for which if we didn't post about **** like this the board would have 2/3rds less content :D )

I hate to be a radical but the speedo numbers are a bit small and you are out of "legal" ones pretty quick. My little town is paying for a new bridge with speeding tickets!

I have been toying with using the revs for that quick look when LEO appears but you need to be in same gear (5th) for that to work. Maybe I can glue a magnifying glass on the speedo needle.
