The "risers" apparently bolt into stock 06 bolt locations and provide a higher threaded stud for the givi attachment? I can't really tell from the pics.

Also, Givi DOES have a mount for the 06 ... I hear they have already sold out of the first batch and the second batch is due 2nd week of July, which is when their color match v46 is available.

Since Givi is yet to provide a rack and mount for the '06, I took the Givi mount I had off my ST1100 to a local fabricator and this is what he came up with...I think it's a pretty neat and simple solution...I have never posted pictures before so I hope this link works.

As of last week, Givi told me they did not have any racks imported yet...as I am heading on a 7k mile trip to Nova Scotia next week, I needed an alternative and this worked well...you are right the risers replace the stock bolts and the Givi plate attaches to the risers...sorry about the pictures, I'm new at this posting thing...

retired soldier, thanks for the pics & info. I took the seat off my o6' and there's a sticker under it saying max weight on the stock rack is 7 lbs(WAAAY to low for a sport touring bike). Any idea what the Givi will haul? Maybe the same since it uses the stock supports??? Thanks.

Personally, I think that looks better than the Givi setup that I have seen. Since the rack isn't really relying on the stock rack for support I would think that it would be plenty strong. The problem with past solutions that I have seen is that they bolted to the stock rack or otherwise used it for support. Since it is just "plastic" that never seemed like a good solution. Those risers might preclude the use of the Givi rack.

Givi did have four racks at Americade, I bought one. Check other threads as there are some very upset dealers out there who have ordered and not received theirs yet. Your set-up looks way to simple, you must over engineer !!!! (wish I thought of it).

We've had 30lbs in ours -- countered with extra weight in the tank bag :eek:

Retired soldier.

I'm in the same boat as you. Heading to Nova Scotia next week on Thursday the 29th. I too wanted a rack for the 06 fjr and got left high and dry by Givi. I wish you could of made up two of your racks, really need one.

Are you heading up to Cape Breton area? We are getting there via New Brunswick rather than the ferry.

Yes, we too are going to Cape Breton area...want to ride the Cabot Trail...we'll first be going to Prince Edward Island and then taking the ferry from Wood Island to Caribou Island...gonna do Cape Breton and then circumnavigate the rest of Nova Scotia...I'll be leaving West Texas on the 30th and meeting my riding companion in PA on the 3d...looking forward to the trip...

Any more word on this? What would it cost to get one of those mounts done? I like it since it's not huge like a lot of mounts I've seen.

{"there's a sticker under it saying max weight on the stock rack is 7 lbs(WAAAY to low for a sport touring bike)."}

I think that 7lb sticker may pertain to the underseat storage area underneath the pillion--if you remove the driver seat there's another sticker just like it in that area which says "load limit 2 lbs". Yama usually pastes a huge ugly sticker smack dab on the item it applies to.
