Has anyone else with an '06 A experienced the dash ABS light coming on intermittently while riding? When I turn-off the ignition and restart the bike the light goes out and stays out, after a couple of hours it comes back on. Battery is fully charged, reads 13.6V so it can't be low voltage. Any ideas?

My 06A did it until about 500 miles, but not after. It was never a problem and it went away on it's own.

The ABS warning light flashes → ABS operation is normal.

• The front or rear brake light switch is defective or improperly adjusted.

• The rear wheel is racing.

• The vehicle is continuously ridden on extremely uneven roads.

Have you added a brake light modulator? I installed one and had the same problem you describe.

Recently had the wheels off for tires?

Dealers are known for screwing up the sensors -

Take a gander at the sensors, and make sure they still have mounting bolts. Just for grins. ;)

My tires were changed (by me) 6k miles ago, no brake light modulator installed, was on a smooth interstate cruising at 80 mph and not on the brakes, just cruisin' along each time the light went on. Bike is about to go out of warranty so I guess I'd better hustle over to the dealer...unfortunately he's 115 miles away...is there a way of determining a fault code for the abs sensors using the dash panel?

I believe a flashing ABS warning light will not register a fault code, only when the light stays on can the code be accessed. I also had this problem on my 04 on and off for 20K miles. It has now settled back down and gone away. The ABS system will still function while the light is flashing, it is indicating that the system has become unstable.

You could also check both ABS sensors with a multimeter to see if they're within spec. Have the dealer inspect your bike before the warranty expires and make sure he/she records this diagnosis against the VIN#.

$389 gives you 4 more years of warranty from D&H in Alabama...

Exactamundo.....

Uneven roads, such as hitting a speed bump a little too fast, or bouncing off a pothole, can cause the symptom of a flashing ABS light.

Found this out after getting keelhauled by Radman for asking this exact same question months ago and not owning a service manual, which outlines the above info as to causes of flashing ABS light.

Yes the manual states this, but I used to get the abs warning light for no apparent reason, regardless of road surface, speed, stop-n-go etc.

Drove me nuts for a while, then I started making farkles and it went away. Funny how things turn out.

So what did you do to make it go away, or does it still do it? What modulator did you install?

I found the correct modulator from Kisantech. The part number is 100HD-M.

I had the same problem. The local Yamaha dealer couldn't figure it out either. Finally I read (somewhere) that a sticking rear brake pedal could cause the bike to be riding with the brake light on all of the time, which would lead to the indicator light going on. The fix was to spray the rear brake arm pivot, as well as the brake light plunger switch with WD-40. I did it, and it's now been trouble free for almost a year now. I hope that works for you as well.
