A friend of mine wants to be different(one friend"st1300" ,me FJR1300). None of us around here know anything about a Triumph Sprint ST. Polling the population tell me what you know about this bike, 2007 or newer. Thanks

I think my buddies was an '07. Possibly, it was an '06, but it was the 1050 with the new "bodystyle" so basically the same bike. It was actually the bike that pushed me over the edge to buy the FJR. It was fast, fun to ride, looked good without bags, and handled great. For my size, it was a little cramped, but my friend put some 1 1/4" risers on it and it made a world of difference. Honestly, if I had ridden the bike with risers before I bought my FJR, I would probably own a Sprint.

Overall, I think the FJR is more suited to MY riding needs due to its better ergos, bigger engine and shaft, but the Sprint is a hellavua bike, and your friend probably couldn't go too wrong buying one. If you get the chance, ride one. You'll be amazed at how cool they are.

Not a bad bike, but for me too uncomfortable a position.

I'd go with the Tiger. Same sweet engine, great handling, and a lot more comfy.

Rode one this weekend during a ride in the Canaan Valley in West Virginia. Very light bike, handles great, looks great with that slick three pipe underseat exhaust. Very cramped postion. Would be giving up ALOT of comfort. The Sprint realy holds you in one postion. That said I really thought the engine, tranny was great. Very agile in the twisties with effortless turning. I will take a close look at the Tiger when I am ready for a lighter ride to get a little more room.

Thanks for the replys ill pass on the info. Seems they dont hold their value and we didnt know if they may have problems. I am sure he will love one then. Again Thanks

I'm pretty sure the next bike I'm gonna be looking hard at will be the Tiger / Sprint GT. I won't buy a Gen II FJR (too many electrical problems), so unless MammaYamaha does some serious work to it it's out of the running. That leaves the Triumphs and the Concours.

Thankfully, I hope that won't be for a good long while :)

I've been following the Triumph sport and sport touring lines for quite some time. The brother-in-law owned a '01 Sprint ST that I spent some time on. The magazines are correct: the engine is a fantastic combination of torque and HP. The rest of the bike is fine, but it's the engine that makes these special.

If your buddy likes the styling, can live with the ergonomics and has a dealer close by, there's no reason not to buy one. Slightly higher bars on the '07 and later and IIRC the gas tank changed from plastic to steel in '08. If your friend is into such things, Suzuki upside down fork conversions are fairly easy on these.
