Better be pointed in the right direction when 7000 rpm happens !

This is so much fun in North Ga. it oughta be illegal.. not a lot of torque for a litre bike but if kept in the green zone ( 6000 - 13000 ) it flattens eyeballs.. sounds great even with stock exhaust..most of the sound is the induction growl coming through the ram air port at the front of the bike..It's as smooth as the FJR but lacks the grunt down low. Great in it's element (fast , smooth backroads or the track ) but makes the FJR feel so plush when you hop on it..

Here it was last week fresh from Japan.. That rear fender came off in 5 minutes. Everything is easy to work on and it's very easy to prep for the track. The front blinkers are midway out the mirror stalks and were put there to smooth the air flow over the riders shoulders.

These big engines are very tight when new and as the miles mount up you can really feel the power free up.

I'm not really brand loyal, but have had good service from my previous ninjas. The other contender that I considered was the new Honda CBR 1000. All of the 1000's are within a hair of each other in performance .The R1 and GSXR are not all new designs this year as the CBR and ZX are.

Honda looks to be the best overall combination of street and track bike, but I preferred the more track focused set up on the Kawi. The price was negotiable on the Ninja whereas the Honda was not.I got mine for 9999..

Congrats on the ZX10. I'm looking at this bike as a second "solo" bike for me.

It's interesting you mentioned the lack of low end grunt. The articles on the web say that it was improved from the 06-07 models. It must have been really poor on the those bikes...

This engine packs 83 ft/lbs. of torque but it peaks all the way up at 8700 rpm . Theres lots of torque to play with but you have to be higher up in the rpm's..like on a 600. But when it comes on its smooth, predictable and ferociously fast. You can feel the g's as it flies down the straights. I could feel the front end getting light as 4th gear topped out at around 155 mph.
