I know there are advantages to both. I am looking for track day gear and after hours bedroom leathers

I am in discussion with 2 fellows looking to sell some used gear. $400 for a newer 1 piece Alpinestars Octane or $275 for 2 pc teknic zip together name unknown about 3 years old with more wear time.

If I get the 2 pc set I could use it as day wear as well and take off the coat for a drink/eat and not look that odd.

Prob a little odd walking in a McDs in a 1sy. Although I have never really been one to care what others think, I would prob wear it at EOM and maybe daywear depending on the daily heat factor. Hell for $400 why let it sit in the closet for a 2-3 times a year track ride. get the money's worth. The old dress for the crash mentality. I guess a one pc roadcrafter is more socially acceptable than leathers, but why?

Any pos or neg about either of these brands? About a 1 vs 2 pc set.

Go!

I've not had a one-piece suit, but I have several other Alpinestars products I've been happy with. I've also seen a LOT of good press on alpinestars for the entry level suits, fwiw.

Haven't hear nothing bad nor good about Alpinestar. But I can tell you for sure DO NOT get Teknic specially if you are going to use it on the track. 2 years ago I had a lowside in turn 2 on autobahn in my joe rocket and it just got scratches, while a girl in my group lowsided in the same turn from what I am told going slower(she was in a slower group) and her suit fell apart. My friend wife lowsided on the street and it again fell apart. 2 for 2 is not good in my book.

AS you have said it already get a 2 piece, this way you will use it. I use mine all the time.

For pure track time go with a one piece of quality manufacture. For road and track; a two piece w/ 360 degree zip is a good compromise. I wear the Joe Rocket Blaster combo. It's hot this time of year and you will smell like a goat but the protection is there.

Poser Power! Go with the A*! :p Actually, a 2 piece will never protect like a single piece will. Spend a couple extra bucks and get the quality gear B)

Silent is right, one peice is better. IF your just on the track with it you dont need the convience of 2 piece. might also check on the used leathers to make sure they havent been wet much. the more that leather gets wet the less protection they will offer.

PS I wear Perforated leather and it is really amazing on a hot day!
