Has anyone here done this ride? Is anyone interested? Advice would be greatly appreciated.
Not going, but jut curious and have a question. Is this the same when where they require you to get a policeman to sign some kind of certificate? I ask because while I was at work I had some guy come to the station, as I was pulling in, and ask me to sign a cert. It was part of some Ironbutt thing. He said he came from FL.

I di it in 2005 starting in San Diego to Jacksonville Beach and return. I can offer some suggestions if you want, PM me. In the last month I was using Interstates 8/10/12 from San Diego to Panama City and it was a perfect slab all the way, no wrecks or congestion at all. no congestions in the large cities whatsoever. FYI, In 2005 I was riding my FJR with a 4.2 auxiliary fuel cell, stopping every 330 miles. A favorite midway point for a lot of 100ccc folks is to take a rest break for 4-6 hours in Junction TX. Nice reasonable motel just off I 10.

Not a difficult ride in my opinion, just need to be accident and breakdown free and most important the desire to do the ride. :D

Good Luck.

I'm not sure if you are interested in just doing the ride or doing an IBA certified ride.

Are going in September.

You will have to check the IBA rules, but IIRC you must have completed a multiday ride previous to the 100CC.
You have got the ride correct. Ira Agins(From the IBA) informed me a SS ride would be needed first, but the verification did not have to be completed prior to the 100CCC. so next week I'll do the SS.

I can make the SS with the OEM seat but no way do this 100CCC. Any ideas for quick fixes? any seat out there

In March of 2008 I completed a 50CC on my VFR:

You mentioned that you wanted to do this ride w/ a group. Next March, they will almost certainly have an organized 50CC/100CCC ending in Jacksonville at the IBA pizza party. Riding w/ the other people made it a very special event and I was running into other participants at almost every gas stop.

In March of 2009 I completed a 100CCC from Ocean Beach, CA to Jacksonville Beach, FLA to Los Angeles. 4,800 miles in 92 hours. It was a neat ride and I will do it again. As Turbo Dave says, you can get 4-5 hours of sleep and a shower every night while completing this ride.

Here are some links I have sent friends planning 50/100 rides:

The best tip I would give is to make all of your hotel reservations in advance. Small Texas towns will sell out of rooms and force you to waste time scrambling to find alternatives. We wasted 1-2 hours on my 50 CC trying to find a place to stay. For the 100CCC we had reservations, paid in advance by credit card, and had them leave the key in the room with the door unlocked. This was a great plan and made it very convenient.

I would also recommend that you read as many ride reports as you can to get an idea how other have completed this ride. There is an obscure website that was functioning as kind of a clearing house for ride reports:

https://www.freewebs.com/eamonn01/

Here is a direct link to their selection of 100CCC trips. I would suggest you read them all:

https://www.freewebs.com/eamonn01/100cccinsanity.htm

I hope that helps. PM me with any specific follow up questions.

Thanks Doug5551 You have been most helpful ...Waiting would make more sense, but most the 100CCs end

up in the west. I also will enjoy the organized event (education for me) Probably make a decision after the SS

with an OEM seat. again , thanks

I'm riding the 50CC from San Diego to Jax on the 10th of Sep with Hoagy. I've got business in San Antonio on the 4th so why not go on out to CA and ride the 50 CC back, I asked of myself. I'm in Jacksonville, let me know if I can help.
