So I took my FJR into the dealer to have my dash replaced due to a glicth in the mpg computer. The reading would never go above 17 mpg. Apparently there is a recall on the 06 for this reason. The bike is brand new to me and when i bought it 3 weeks ago it only had 200 miles on it... so i put over 1200 miles on it, took it in to have the dash done and when i fired it up to take it home, the odometer read 0000000!! LOL has this happened to anyone else that had to have their dash replaced? I'm not complaining, my dealer is great but they may be shady, i haven't figured it out yet.

Not shady, the whole fufa was replaced...........It's your bike it's up to you to write the errow on you title when you sell it.....

Well by the time i sell it, it won't matter anyways... planning on having this one a long time. so is my wife.. :)

The reduction would have been more impressive had you 12000 miles on the clock - 1200 miles is a drop in the bucket.

That bike has been ignored by the previous owner and requires that you thrash the heck out of it to make up for 2 or 3 years of neglect . . . . enjoy the ride.

Did they put a sticker in the "glove box" stating the mileage when they did the change?

It's likely in the computer.

I had a '04 CBR1000RR I bought new, and they were having speedo pods replaced under warranty, usually at the time of purchase.

The place I bought it from (in Missouri) told me the recall/TSB had been taken care of - but when I brought it in to my local dealer for something at ~8,000 miles, my VIN was listed in the computer as not having been done....so I got my new speedo with quite a few miles on the bike.

I asked about full disclosure when selling or trading in the bike, they said the actual mileage would be retained on the computer data associated with my VIN. You could still pull the wool over the eyes of a prospective buyer, but they'd find out eventually.

I'm just making the assumption that something similar would be the case regardless of brand....

My sticker is in the glove box--probably depends on the state. I'd guess most states require you to verify that mileage is correct when the title is transferred.

My 06 dash was replaced by the original buyer at 1200mi. Sticker placed in owners manuel noting the original odometer reading at time of replacement. Replaced in Arkansas.

I would think the glovebox would be a better place for it, but what do I know.
