Hi guys

Currently running a 180/55 Michelin PR4 GT on the rear and am considering trying a 190. I have been asked a few times if i have the correct tire on the rear of the bike as the 180 PR4 width is actually 172 in width. A bit strange i thought considering the Avon Storm 180 is actually 188 across its width.

Anyway......From you guys that have been running the 190 for a while what are the negatives/safety issues with this tire?? specifically the Michelin PR4 which is probably the one i would run with. The other thing of course is that i often scrape the footpegs when i want to have a bit of fun in the twisties so i guess the 190 would also alleviate this to a degree.

Your thoughts?

Installed a 190 on mine, and have been pleased with the result. Speedo is more accurate, and turn-in is a bit quicker, as the geometry is shifted a little. It does raise the bike a very small amount, so with the RDL saddle makes me glad my legs aren't much shorter. Although I don't have a problem using the center stand anyway, some find it easier with the larger tire.

Aesthetics are a personal perception, but to me the bike just looks better with the larger rear tire.

Mounting the tire was a bit more difficult, but I had a local mechanic and fellow biker do the job, and of course there is a price difference.
